Flowergirl - Autumn Jewels and and Desperado Love do have flowers that are similar colors. Both are descended from El Desperado. I grow all three because I like that color combo. AJ and DL have different shaped blooms, different sized blooms, different scape heights, and different bloom times. AJ has a 6-inch bloom on 40-inch scapes and is a late bloomer. DL has a 5-inch bloom on 26-inch scapes (it's 29 inches here) and blooms midseason. Chris - Mantis is right. Bullfrog Kisses was hybridized by Frank Smith. The Trimmers have a general listing with newer daylilies hybridized by others on it. I wanted to add more Frank Smith daylilies because I've had such good luck with American Doll and I Remember You. So I bought Bullfrog Kisses and Patsy Cline from Watermill, along with four of Trimmers intros because the prices were the best I could find on the Smiths. Debra

My Feb. box from Em arrived today. As you will remember, I was MIA last month when it was time to send so she and I agreed that she should wait. Wellllll....EM, I am THRILLED with what you sent. Even before I opened it, the box smelled WONderful. When I actually opened it, the heavenly scents just wafted out. But first I pulled out the pkg. that was taped in newspaper. I could peek in 1 end, and when I did I was saying out loud, "oh my, is it really, is it really?" then I opened it and saw I was correct. Em sent 3 Brug cuttings!!!!!! I LOVE them and have wanted some for such a long time. I will have to take time and look up the pics for: Tequila Sunrise, U-Conn Treasure, and Frosty Pink. You must grow these? Thank you EVER so much. Now what smelled soooo good were: Yankee Candle tarts- Home Sweet Home, Island Spa, Autumn Leaves, Garden Sweet Pea, and Kiwi Berries. The other item that smelled so good are Lavender/Vanilla soap petals. You know, I have sent these to others before, but I have never tried them myself. This will be fun and so relaxing in our spa tub. Em also sent a "paint pen" to mark my labels, Valentine chocolates, seeds-mixed Barlow columbine, numerous viola mixes, LOTS of petunia mixes, streaked hosta seedling mix, hosta Fascination, hosta Thunderbolt, hosta First Frost, hosta Christmas Tree, hosta Great Lakes Gold, hosta Blue Belle, and Brug peachy/yellow. Em, I have never tried hostas or brugs from seed so I am anxious to see how they turn out. The hosta seeds are new varieties to me, too. WooHoo! Along with the seeds, Em sent a 10 peat pellet greenhouse. Perfect to try these seeds in this. Also, received CUTE butterfly-shaped sparkly notecards AND ladybug stickers. Em, I am just so excited and thankful for all that you thought of and for the lovely card. I smiled when I saw it addressed to 'ME." :D Thank you again and again. ME

Thank you everyone. It's always fun to cook with a theme. Ann and Annie, the stand that holds up the serving dish for the blueberries was made by me with some scrap metal I had in my shop. Teresa, It is interesting that if you cut some veggies a different way, it shows up a different kind of hidden beauty. "Stunning - as always dcarch. Now a chicken or the egg type question for you. Do you have visions and then cook accordingly or do you cook and let the food guide you? Jane" Jane, thanks. I am not sure whether it is the chicken or the egg, or may be it's the rooster that comes first. I look at what everyone here is making, take a quick look at the recipes, and then when I come home from work, it is what I have in the refrigerator at the moment which will guide me. Until the very last moment of cooking, the natural shapes, colors, and textures, of all the ingredients in the pot or pan, they seem to want to fall into some kind of geometry that will provoke a unique sensation beyond taste and smell. That kind of spontaneous geometry, which does not cost any money, is highly satisfying because it adds an extra dimension to eating. I do encourage all to focus a little on "food play". It is easier than you think. dcarch
