Such a beautiful day outside

Never would have thought I'd consider 35Â° as beautiful but it is. Just took a walk, maybe about a mile. Lots of snow still around from last night, but the streets and sidewalks are mostly clear. You know I don't wear a coat until temps are in the teens normally. Had on a sweatshirt and t-shirt underneath and also wore gloves. It was marvelous and very refreshing.

I thought it was a beautiful day too even with the 8 inches of snow that fell. I haven't seen a snow plow come down my street yet today and the only thing snow free is sidewalks and driveways that were shovelled. My street doesn't have sidewalks to walk on.

Sunny, sunny day and I really enjoyed being outside shovelling the snow as did my neighbours. LOL Only time we really get to talk to each other during the winter months. Yep 35 degrees is warm.

I turned the furnace right down before I went to bed last night and it hasn't come on all day. I woke up to it being 58 degrees in the house and now it is 63 degrees just from the sun heating the house. No wind which helped. LOL

It has been a sunny 45 - 50ish day here. Spent the morning at the internet cafe and this afternoon moving all I saved to my PC. No outdoor activity for me today.

I do something similar. Winter weather can be very unpredictable here in Texas. For example, yesterday it was 70 degrees! I start my seedlings very early, in December, and while it's freezing outside I keep them in the garage under lights. I don't really have room in the house for my light set-up. The garage isn't heated, but I put a thermometer in there to make sure, and it never gets down to freezing in there. I also have them sitting on those seedling heating pads. (Starting them very early also helps if some disaster happens and I have to start some more replacement seeds. Most people think I'm nuts for starting that early, but it has helped before.) But when the weather report says we're having several days in a row where the nighttime lows aren't going to get colder than the 40's, and it's going to be in the 60's or 70's during the day, I put them all outside on the porch in the sun and just leave them there until the weatherman says we're going to have a freeze again. It's really not that much trouble since here it doesn't freeze more often than it does. I figure that natural sunlight is always better than flourescent lights, so I try to have my seedlings out in it as much as possible. I also think that maybe having them at cooler temperatures and slowing their growth might keep them from getting as leggy. But I haven't done a controlled study on that.

Oh sure, go and show me all those beautiful purple flowers! Even if they'd grow in Phoenix, they wouldn't last 24hrs with me. So here I am with purple flower envy. I really want to hang out at your place! Especially next two days during the fool "heat wave" when its suppose to be 97! This is March, for Pete's sake! I was reading about that neat ol' birdhouse going out in the yard...and it looks great where you put it...but thinking I'm not sure I'd be able to put it outside. Then I read your talented DH will be making more off it. So tell me, do you guys ever come to the Phoenix Farmers Market? I'll be a good customer if you do. ;o) hugs, Karen

A little bit here too! Yesterday it was 52 degrees! Ohmyword! First 50 degree day since last November and it was sooooooo wonderful!!! Lots of snow yet, but it is going quick the last couple weeks. NOT fast enough for me but its going and thats the main thing! It will be into April though before we see any tulips. Unless we slide right into some beautiful spring like weather. (which of course I am desperately hoping for!) A couple years ago we even had a Easter egg hunt cause it was almost 70 on Easter. Too much mud and snow yet for this year.

You can come and cook on mine Ruthie, or better yet, just bring an appetite and you can scoop something out of our dutch.LOL In winter when the stove is going 24/7, we cook on it 3 or 4 days a week. It's cooling off here, but not to the point of the stove being used. I envy people that can make a decent chicken and dumpling, but my soups are good and potroast is probably my favorite comfort food.

I'm not sure, but I think it made it up to the 50s today. I wasn't outside as much as I wanted to be because I had a small pile of paper work that has steadily been growing. I really needed to try to shrink it. Also I had to go to the postoffice and grocery store.

I have to take Bob to the doctor tomorrow, but hopefully we won't be there all day and I can get out and play. The next day there is snow or sleet predicted.

It was about 50 here in NY. I walked to the store with nothing on my head and a light jacket. It was lovely!
