That may be a small picture but can tell it's a big field of sunflowers. I see a lot of them in this area.

I can only upload pictures from my computer to the gardenweb, that are 60 KB or less, I don't know why this one came out SO small. Any ideas??

I'd love to see a field of sunflowers...Did you maybe change something in Irfanview when you resized?

I don't know why some pictures come out soooo small. I tried some other photos of the same sunflower fields, and they all become very small when reduced to under 60kb. What else can I do?

Don't know if this may help but when I resize any photos (after cropping and editing) I change pixel size to what I want it at then change the DPI's to 72... which seemed to make a big difference when I uploaded to photography sites directly from my computer(I use Irfanview program for resizing). I read it on another photo forum and tried it. Hope maybe this helps....

Pictures have to be 60 kb or less to upload them. All photos taken at 2560 X 1920 do not comeout the same size when reduced to 60 kb. Some photos are very large at 30 kb and some at 60 kb are smaller than the 30 kb photos. It apparently has to do with colour in the photos. I have noticed that a nightshot, such as lightning or nighttime fireworks come out quite large even at 25 kb whereas a bright coloured picture, taken with the same pixels, comes out smaller even at 60 kb. I can't explain why, but it does seem to have something to do with colour, particularly bright colours.

Compress the image

Now we need to compress the jpeg file by reducing the "quality" or number of colours in the image. The appearance of the photo will hardly change, yet it will reduce the size of the file used to store the image dramatically. This will greatly speed up the time it takes to appear on readers' screens.

If you use Photoshop with ImageReady, choose a quality of about 20-30. The drop in quality will be barely noticeable.

In other software, look for an option called Colors, Color Palette, Decrease Colors, or something similar. Photos from your digital camera or scanner have millions of colours, but you donÂt need this many for display on a computer screen.

The goal is to reduce the file size of the image to about 40kb for a 500 pixel wide photo and about 60kb for a 750 pixel wide photo....c&p from "douglasmotorcycles" written by Dave...

I use PhotoStudio5 and can't find anything that reduces the picture to 60kb without reducing the actual size. It works fine for almost all of my pictures, but once in a blue moon, it makes the picture soooo small, that it shows up like the one above.
