Clay walls - New Potting shed at Zen Center
Comments (5)Hi there Herb, They are niches with the exception of the obvious window that is open and casting light. I have a 'full frontal ' shot of the exterior architectural view of the new potting shed. It is really quite lovely, very organic in shape. Will post a photo of it if you are interested. Comments (4)Thank you both very much for your input. Hough, was your granite on when you had the island moved? I thought of moving the island as well, we have about 52" inches of space between island and the counter, so we should have room. That's the other thing that bothers me, if we had any kind of site supervision to notice this even at cabinet install it would of been easy to move the island over. The hardwood flooring is also installed at this point but I don't believe the plumbing for sink is done yet. Should I push for this fix instead? Worthy, I'm happy your ceiling looking good after patching, and hope you have no more plumbing issues. :) That's the other thing, I know people have their ceilings patched and redone all the time, and they turn out good. I've never had that luck, lol We haven't been to the house at night to see how the lights really effect the lighting yet, but could tell when we turned them on at dusk that they shine over the sink and not so much at the seating area at all. As from the comments from guests, that was one of the first things I thought of, lol. My hubby has an old army buddy who's such a joy. He always loves to make rude comments about everyone's homes or cars. On our last house some of the rememberable comments were: "I don't like your granite, looks like a Dalmation." It was Alaska White. "So are these real hardwood, oh they are? So they'll be scratched to sh@& in no time". They weren't. "I liked your old backsplash better". When we replaced it after a really bad tile job. So I can only imagine his comments on the lights, lol. When we bought new vehicles he would comment on how he didn't like them and insult them as he drove a falling apart old minivan loaded with mounds of garbage abd junk and would tell us when he bought a vehicle he would buy a fancy Corvette. He said this for about 15 years and never did buy one. Finally about two years ago he did, and stored it in our garage in our house he didn't like. Don't know what hubby sees in this "friend" but unfortunately he will be around, lol....See MoreAck. Lights centered over table would be off-center in room...
Comments (5)We have the same problem in our dining room. And the real 'ACK' part is that we gutted our whole kitchen/dining area and removed the old ceiling, so we could have addressed it properly the first time. Once the new dining room table was in, it was obvious we would be moving it off centre (pathway to deck is behind table), and we're kicking ourselves. DH is planning to buy a plaster medallion to put up on the ceiling, so that the edge of it will cover the old hole. Luckily, he is an electrical engineer, so he can do the rewiring. I COULD patch the hole, but what a LITERAL pain in the neck. So not only will the fixture be off-centre, but medallion will be too. I am pretty sure it will cost you more than $35 extra on top of the first $35 to rewire in a new location- assuming there is enough wire up there to allow the move. Ours is accessible from the attic....See MorePot Filler Location - center or side?
Comments (5)I have been working on this for a few more hours and I think I am starting to get an idea. Visually centered when retracted puts the mount point 3" off center. Conveniently that moves the handle out from directly over the center burner. When retracted the mass is just above the spout. With that in mind, vertically I could put the spout 16" above the cooking surface. The mount point would be 3-1/2" below that. The grates are 1" above counter grade so that puts the spout 17" above counter. The hood is 34" above counter (I am very tall) so that puts the mass very close to the vertical center. Unfortunately, that can make things look low but given the hoods extension from the wall I think it works. Thoughts? Is 16" above the cooking surface too high? Most of my pots are 10" or less but I am not sure I want it TOO close to the cooking surface....See MoreVertise
