It looks and sounds like you have two types of pests - brown scale are the round-ish blobs. The tiny bugs, along with the speckling on the leaves, sound like spider mites. Google those names to see if they match up along with various ways to eliminate them. Brooke

Pollen beetles are benign but (a) unsightly and (b) they certainly have harmed my roses. The blooms did not come out properly and wilted straight away. Not what you want of a patio rose! if they go for the pollen what effect does this have on bees? (I'm not a biologist)

Do you happen to know of any sort of organic sprays that I could put on the plants to prevent aphids from returning once I've pinched 'em all away? I think I might try spraying them off into a ditch or something because finding them all and pinching every one of them might be a bit too tedious for my likes. Thank you again.
