Help can't find a recipe

About a week ago I saw a recipe using cranberries and horseradish. Now, I can't find it. Or, was I just dreaming that I saw that recipe.

Can you help?

I am sure the recipe you are looking for is Linda C's Cranberry Jezebel.

Here's my recipe for Cranberry Jezabel, came originally from the Chicago Trib more than 10 years ago.

12 oz bag fresh or frozen cranberries
1 c. water
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c brown sugar

Wash and pick over the berries, put water and sugars in sauce pan( large enough to prevent boil over) and bring to a boil, add berries and return to a boil, cook on medium for 15 to 20 minutes from the time it returns to a
boil, stirring occasionally.

Cool to luke warm and add 3 T. fresh (fresh is hotter!) horseradish and 1T Dijon mustard, stir, refrigerate and enjoy!

My family mostly likes the Ocean Spray jellied stuff, but I love LindaC's cranberry jezebel so I make it every year for Elery and I. We eat it at Thanksgiving dinner and anything leftover makes an awesome sandwich spread with leftover turkey. It's also really good on a roast beef sandwich.

Its use is comparable to an open kettle canning, or filling the jars and capping, then flipping them over to seal. Worst yet. if it is used, it would usually require a pressure canning, and by that time its not a jello anymore. You must realize that many of those old 'hand-me-down' recipes, Amish, and how your grandma did things aren't valid today when it comes to canning saftey. I 'push the envelope' with a steam canner and a no heat vacuum process, but these are ONLY for items that are made with full strength 5% vinegar with no water added, and no other odd additives beyond pickling salt. If you were to look at a latest recipe from a Ball Blue Book, I seriously doubt it would mention using gelatin in any of the canning recipes. Quite frankly, I have only seen the mention of gelatin here in the Harvest Forum and have always posted a warning as its not a safe thing to do, even if used in high fruit acid jams. For Rhubarb, even though there is much less oxalic acid in the stems than the leaves, it can add to the complexity of the end product, and can affect its shelf life. Protien and bacteria seem to like each other.. Ever see the stuff they grow germs in? As an option a small amount of the Clear Jel starch will give a more consistant result as well as being much safer to can. You don't need to thicken to a paste, just a small amount is needed to give things a syrup consistency, or what you prefer, and adding lots would give you stiff rubbery jelly.

Hi-Protein Honey Wheat Bread -readinglady Categories : Breads Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups bread flour 2 teaspoons salt 2 envelopes active dry yeast 1 cup water 1/2 cup honey 1/4 cup margarine or butter 8 ounces cream-style cottage cheese 2 eggs 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup quick oats 1 cup finely chopped nuts Generously grease two 9x5x3-inch loaf pans. Spoon flour lightly into measuring cup; level off. Combine 2 cups flour, salt and yeast in a large bowl. Mix well. Heat water, honey, margarine and cottage cheese in a medium-size pan until very warm (120-130 degrees). (Margarine does not need to melt completely.) Add warm liquid and eggs to flour mixture. Beat at low speed until moistened, then beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Stir in whole wheat flour, oats and nuts by hand plus enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. (May need an additional cup or so white flour.) Knead dough on a floured surface 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place dough in greased bowl; turn to bring greased side up; cover. Let rise in a warm place away from draft until double in volume, about 1 hour. Punch dough down; divide into 2 parts. Let rest on counter, covered with inverted bowl for 15 minutes. when I make a sour cream topping for my cheesecakes, I use 2 cups sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, & 2 tsp. vanilla extract. If you like your topping a little sweeter, you can add more sugar to taste. But this is plenty sweet to our taste.

and I also like it with roast pork....and I have a friend I give it to who eats it on a salad??
whatever...but I suppose mixed with some oil and a bit of vinegar it might work.

That cranberry recipe sounds delicious. What a combo of ingredients! But I can see that it would be delicious as a sandwich spread.

It sounds wonderful. I love horseradish and we grow it too.

I am totally hooked on "sweet hot"...Annie's Habanero gold, my hot pepper jelly and a habanero raspberry jam I make....

Linda, if you like the sweet-hot, try this one. I made it yesterday for the feast and it is right one target.

Spicy Cranberry Chutney

Ingredients
Ã¢ÂÂ¢3 to 4 jalapenos, finely chopped
Ã¢ÂÂ¢8 cups cranberries (2 x 12 oz. bags)
Ã¢ÂÂ¢2 limes, zested and juiced
Ã¢ÂÂ¢2 oranges, zested and juiced
Ã¢ÂÂ¢1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
Ã¢ÂÂ¢1 cup water
Ã¢ÂÂ¢Salt and fresh ground black pepper
Directions
Put all of the ingredients in sauce pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer until desired consistency, about 40 to 50 minutes

Note: I halved it and it cooks in 30 min or less.

Julia's Cranberry Chutney

Source: Julia Child from Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home
Tart and sweet with a touch of heat. Very good on leftover turkey sandwiches
Yield 2 1/2 cups

1 large Granny Smith apple
1 lemon
1 cup orange juice
3 cups cranberries (12 oz)
3 tbsps white wine vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more to taste)

Halve and core the apple and cut in small dice. Pare 10 or so thin strips with a zester, then trim the ends and cut the lemon lengthwise into quarters. Cut each quarter into thin triangles. Pour the oj and cranberries into a sturdy 2 or 3 quart saucepan and set over medium heat. Add the apple and lemon pieces, the strips of lemon peel, vinegar and seasonings. Stir together and cook covered about 5 minutes until all the cranberries have burst. Uncover, reduce heat and simmer for another 4 or 5 minutes, until thick. Taste and stir in small amounts more vinegar, sugar, salt or cayenne as you like. Cool to room temperature before serving. Keeps several weeks in refrigerator. Can be frozen.
