Thank you My hugonis is on the corner next to a fairly busy road. Deer avoid it because it is too close to the habitat of their fiercest enemy, the F-150. However, there is an enormous R. cantabrigiensis nearby that is accessible in a garden where other roses are carefully fenced in. It's the size of a one-car garage. So it doesn't look like they are favorites, but if they get a chance to mature, the deer won't be able to reach most of them due to sheer size. I must warn you, though, it isn't an easy rose to root. Tree peonies may last two weeks here if we don't get a heat wave. They are planted on the south side of a big oak tree, so they get morning and afternoon sun, but are shaded midday. I have two kinds of lilacs. Syringa vulgaris, the old fashioned usual kind, which were here when we bought the house. And Syringa microphila, which is next to the driveway. Unlike most of the roses, this one sometimes repeats.

Electric heat is expensive to operate so you are doing the right thing by setting back the temperature when no one is home and late at night. Your current thermostat is battery powered. It is set up this way because you don't have a C wire. The C wire is the ground connection and is required to power the thermostat with the 24 volt transformer located by the furnace. The WiFi capability is not a free add on, but Home Depot is selling a Honeywell WiFi programmable for $99. Unfortunately WiFi thermostats require a C wire. There may one model that does not. The Nest is a possibility but it is a lot more expensive. I suggest getting a Honeywell programmable 7 Day programmable DIY thermostat like the RTH7600D. You can call Honeywell for additional suggestions. They can also guide you if you have problems during the installation.

How to clean a table that with melamine top?

I was wondering the same thing Yayagal has said. Did you wash off the cream cleanser? & I like Olychick's idea = ) Not sure about melamine, but Lysol Disinfectant Cleanser takes Sharpies & other permanent marker off my pale grey formica tables @ work. I spray the foam on, then use a scrubbing sponge to scrub the table tops & edges, concentrating on stains, then wipe off & rinse well. Some stains need more than one cleaning. I've been doing this for many years. Rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol will dissolve permanent marker as well. I puddle it on the stain & scrub w/ a toothbrush or similar. It's also good for wiping down greasy surfaces. I put a sprayer top on the bottle & use it like a spray cleaner & to disinfect surfaces.

Great catch. I always liked to watch these birds when I lived in Nebraska.

What 'metering' did you have the camera set on? I wonder if 'center wieght' metering would've helped with bringing out more detail in the bird. It's difficult when the subject and backgroung contrast as much.

Good shot Konrad. I have a bird feeder and bath so all kinds of birds come here even the red winged blackbirds which are mainly a swamp bird. Also sqirrels,gophers,chipmunks,rabbits and deer. Not able to take pictures of some though.

Metering was set at Partial Metering, [for bright background] not sure if center weighted would have helped? Thanks for asking!... I will try and see.

Wow...you have a Zoo out there at times, have you got a zoom lens?...If not, ask Santa to get you a 12x zoom camera LOL.

yeah center weighted would have definately blown out the back ground. I was just wondering. Like I mentioned it's hard when the subject and backround contrast so much, it's a give and take situation. I hear that Fuji S3 does an excellent job with HDR, I am trying and find one to play with, but I live in a small town and there are no camera stores here. Plus, spending US$1500 for a 6.1MP is hard for me to justify.

Konrad I do have a 24x zoom on my camera but whenever I set the camera to digital zoom the batteries die on me but when I turn it off and back on it works fine. It doesn't have a stabelizer that is a problem.

Where I live someone did a DNA on a mosquito and found it had robins blood in it so now the robins are being killed because of west nile disease. The robins have always been my friends and I feel bad about the foolishness of science.
