I've been thinking of you -- you were one of my first "correspondents" here on GW many moons ago ... and I LOVE your aesthetic!

I read with sadness the change of kitchen plan due to LNT shutting down, but then I just read that they're coming back online. Is this good for you? My fingers are crossed!

Please let me (all of us) know how you're doing and where you are in your head with your kitchen. I'm pulling for you!

Thanks so much for asking! The liquidators who purchased LNT also purchased the rights to "the name". They are apparently starting a website that will sell home product. They also own all the private label product names, so there may be "LNT Shops" in stores. Similar to how Lands End has a "shop" in Sears stores. Unfortunately, this does not mean anything for the LNT employees. The offices and stores are all closed at this point. Still looking for my next opportunity!!

The kitchen has/had hit another stall as DH's company went into Chapter 11 about 3 weeks after I lost my job. They have survived, so I think we will be moving ahead. Plus, we were in the middle of renovating our kids' bathroom, which turned into a DIY, so we wanted to finish that first. DH can only do so much and have a "real" job. I've been working with my dear friend Rhome to tweak the design a little further and I think it's complete. Planning a pantry area like Vicnsb's(thanks!!) and may be reusing some of my existing cabinetry for that area. Hopefully this will be finished before the end of 2009!!! LOL!!!

Thank you for the update! I am excited about your and rhome's tweaking -- I look forward to seeing it. (I'll do a search.)

I'm glad your husband's company survived ... and I know what you mean about being able to do "only ... so much" DIY. I really do. (I'm a SAHM and my youngest [2.5] has special needs, so while on the face of it I'm home a lot truthfully, he [and his sibling] is my full- [round the clock] time job. When he sleeps is when I'm "off the clock," and sometimes I am really tired! So my projects are on the s-l-o-w track.)

Here is an easy to understand guide for echinacea http://www.gardenguides.com/articles/coneflower.htm I really recommend you cut the root up before drying... you will need a hacksaw to cut it up when dried! :o) for contraindications http://www.herbmed.org/Herbs/Herb6.htm I know it stops working after like 8 days, so really short term is all that is needed.

Well..if you trim the huge ones they will be shrubbyier.If were planted close I imagine could grow as hedge if that was an a idea.They all grow a lil different and also depends on the soil.the richer& moisture the better it is. I don't have any grown together,but have thought about it.I have a few stand alones,but most are like a backbone stuck here& here& there.I had one grow 10 ft this year....and next year I'll keep that one shrubby.The 1st yr hubby "accidently" topped it in half when it was just reaching 2 ft.I actually liked the way it grew that way better.It had alot more flowers,but we were dryer this year also.

I shop at multiple stores. Pay day is every other Friday so I that is when I go to Wal-Mart or Smith's (Kroger owned). Every 2 weeks we also get coffee beans at the little mom and pop shop. We go to Sprouts every 2 weeks as their ads overlap on Wednesdays. This is actually getting less frequent as they have not put the bulk things on sale that I want the most as frequently (steel cut oats and short grain brown rice). The bread outlet is a once a month trip. Other stores such as Keller's (for meat), Trader Joe's, the international markets, Vitamin Cottage (for other bulk items), I alternate months. Some things I get through Amazon's subscribe and save and that can vary in frequency. Eggs are mostly from my hens and many of our vegetables come from our garden. Some of the variety in shopping is about the money savings but it is more along the lines of trying to match the quality to a certain price point and meeting my needs of acquiring a diversity of ingredients. Arborio rice at TJ's, quality meat at Keller's, red lentils in bulk at Vitamin Cottage, etc. Part of it is me trying to maintain a well stocked pantry because my moods are fickle and if the pantry has a variety of things, I can cook according to my mood. Pre-planned menus never, ever work for me.
