We went with the Triple pane apex package (ultra-u plus8). We're in MN and suffer from both weather extremes. The windows are not yet installed, they were just ordered after before the Christmas. We are actually just doing two double casements first and will live with them for a few months before purchasing more. i want to make sure I truly like our windows before committing another $20-30k for the rest of our windows and doors. Yes, it cost more doing it this way, but I'm ok to pay a bit more to ensure I'm happy.

I agree that a decision should not be based on that alone, however it is what it is, and should not be completely discounted. There are only a handful (no more than a dozen on the list that I saw) of the hundreds if not thousands of companies nationwide that were singled out by the FTC. The actions must be pretty egregious to warrant such a response, and it raises an eyebrow at the very least. I believe that several of the other companies on that list are now out of business. Often times there may not be one big hairy issue that indicates the way a company does business, but an array of smaller things that can fly under the radar can often establish a pattern. Take it for what it's worth.

No soup for you Bev. If you are going to make recommendations from the status of a "professional", then stick to those things that you do as a professional. I'm not taking a "swipe" at you or any other designers, I'm sure that you all are good at what you do-- design. What I take issue with is the need for some to comment on subjects that they are clearly uninformed on to further their dream to be an "influencer". When you make moronic statements like, " Vinyl windows for new construction? That seems an odd choice. There are maintenance free better choices out there. Sunrise appears to have been purchased by Milgard."...you may get called out. There's literally nothing correct in that statement, and everything to suggest that you know nothing about windows. -Vinyl windows are EXTRAORDINARILY popular for new construction. Some bad, some good. -You would be hard pressed to find a better maintenance free option than some of the best vinyl options. certainly nothing from Weathershield. -Sunrise was recently sold, but not to Milgard (they are under the same umbrella so I suppose partial credit is due) - Weathershield makes windows in more material options than you've stated. -Your post didn't answer the question of the OP in any way. I won't comment on the best type of doiley to use on the window valance or on whether someone should paint their pergola white or off-white. You may consider refraining from offering "professional" advice on what is a quality window in a similar way.

@floraluk2 Thanks for replying. Interesting you think they look chlorotic - that was my first thought when I saw them. But, my backyard has huge fir trees on east side property over the fence & I have lots of bright yellow euonymus so I decided it would fit right in. I returned to nursery to buy 2 - they’d had quite a few so I wanted to take the time to do a bit of research before buying even though they weren’t expensive. When I returned 2 days later to buy 2 of them, they had only 2 left! Nursery person said they’d been a hot seller! They are from another nursery 3 hours north so the same climate as my area. I am replacing 2 clematis both of which had 2 seasons on them but now there’s nothing sprouting from ground or stems left on trellis’s & 1 was already a replacement for a clem that didn’t make it. Decided I needed something different & I want less than 20’ vine. I was pondering roses but I don’t want that much work. I have 2 other smaller clematis that are doing well, starting to bloom & full of buds. I thought the leaf shape is interesting & tag & research says flowers are fragrant. For full sun & 10’ height, it might be just the ticket. Will see how they do through & if they come up next spring.
