No, but I had a bottle of Cascade under my sink that sprung a leak, leaked all over the underside of the cabinet, out the door and all over the carpet. My carpet is ruined. We have tried everything we know to try short of trying to dye the carpet. Now.....ALL bottles, cans, etc. are in clear bags under the sink.

Linda, even plastic bags can leak. I keep that stuff in a Rubbermaid dishpan under the sink. So far so good.

I also keep all liquids in a plastic tray(originally a shallow plastic drawer) under my sinks. I also have a water alarm under every sink. It's a little plastic box which has a long life battery in it and it lets out a high pitched shriek if any liquid touches the sensors.

Not water bottle but box of Cascade that got wet...ate into bottom of cabinet. Solved all cabinet issues by using boot trays under all sinks, even in bathroom. Works like a charm for me, and they can be sprayed off in sink every once in awhile when they get nasty from 'stuffs'.

Never had that happen. I do like the idea of putting everything into a plastic pan. Good idea there!

I only shop @ Dollar Tree. I've been very happy with the products I've purchased.

My plastic bags are also in plastic bins now.

I tried our boot tray, but the pipes are in the way. I did find a bucket that I have most things in, I'm now on the hunt for a rectangular shaped bin of some sort to fit along the side nicely.

Our Dollarama is the biggest and best dollar store. We do have one small Dollar Tree, but we don't care for it, we didn't find the quality to be anything to rave about. But like other US stores, the products sold and prices, don't compare to the US when they come here. Target being a recent example.

Jasdip, these slide along the side between cabinet wall and pipes and also under disposal. I used duct tape to "install" the sliders so I wouldn't have to make holes in new cabinets.

I wonder if those sliding baskets would also work in my deep dark, hated corner kitchen cabinet. I have to twist and practically crawl inside to get something at the very back, hate it.

I can't say specifically what they do and don't carry, but our Dollaramas are large and carry a great selection of everything.
Their prices are $1-$3, and Better Crocker bakeware, Anchor Hocking glass bowls, Rubbermaid storage items would be in the $2 and $3 range.
None of the other dollar stores compare.

This spray bottle was of good quality and it was nice and large, and the spray worked. I loved it.

I'll take a look at the Dollar Tree next time we're in that part of town.

I have plastic bins under my kitchen and bathroom sink also. I love going to the $ Store. Nicole, can you belive they sell Dermasil for $1???

Jasdip, call your insurance company and see if the carpet is covered under your Homeowners policy. It should be. My SIL dropped a gallon jug of bleach on her LR carpet while carrying it in the house. HO insurance replaced the carpet.

I keep my bottles of hazardous materials (HAHA) in trays as well, I have found these handy long narrow planter box type plastic trays with no drain holes. Now would be a good time to find them since it's getting to be planting time. Very handy. I also have my bottle with diluted bleach sitting inside an old rubbermaid half gallon pitcher. You can usually find all sorts of old pitchers at thrift shops for a dollar. Better safe than sorry.

I had one plastic bottle fail. It was filled with a liquid that was mostly water. The botle had been dropped from a height of about 5 ft and landed square on its bottom on a hard surface. The shock force can be quite large. The bottle developed a split where the bottom meets a vertical wall and quickly spilled its contents. This surprised me but I can see why it might have failed. Most soft plastics have enough elasticity to dull the shock front, but some plastics may behave in a brittle manner if it required to stretch too quickly.

Polycarbonates (tradename Lexan for example) can fail in unexpected ways after being exposed to certain detegents and solvents and then exposed to UV light. What seemingly was an elastic material can then behave more like glass. I know of a case where the polycarbonate top of an "iron lung" fractured sending shards to the face of the attending physician. According to the investigation, the material failed after being exposed to sanitation fluids and then having x-rays shot through it. The air pressure of the interior was modulated from low to about 1.5 atmospheres to cause artifical breathing by the patient. The cover 'exploded' on a positive pressure pulse.

I picked up a narrow box at the grocery store, cut it down and it fits perfectly! Nothing beats "free".
