Box store vs name brand light bulbs
Comments (2)The Cree branded CR6 has a 5 year warranty compared to the EcoSmart branded version ECO-575 which has a 3 year warranty. The difference in pricing may be more important in this example. There are many other differences inherent in LED lighting even if various brands use LED chips from the same source such as 1. LED emitter efficiency. 2. Utilization of remote phosphors. 3. Using a mix of different color LED emitters. 4. Power supply components. Sometimes it is difficult to determine if a seller is simply padding the bottom line by just looking at the box....See MoreMore Store Brand than Name Brands
Comments (20)They took out our Albertson's and replace it with a Western Family store. Now we have 2 WF stores, a Wally World, and a Smith's. I mutter under my breath every time I have to go into WM, I'm not keen on Smith's, it's way too crowded, and the only reason I still go to the old Albertson's, now WF, is for the employees I've gotten to know and who know me by name. If I had my druthers, I'd drive a "fur piece" and do my shopping at the only Albertson's available in my area, but 2 hours is a loooong drive for groceries. The only reason I set foot in WM is dog food, it is cheaper by far than all of the other stores. If I find it on sale somewhere else, I stock up so I don't have to go to WM!! Our local WM has finally taken out all those center aisle kiosks that bottlenecked traffic. They were such a pain. It got to the point I would park my buggy, walk to where I needed to go and pick up product and walk back to my buggy and then check out. I swear they rearrange the store at night and move the shelves closer together so you can't pass 2 shopping carts side by side. And don't even get me started on the shoppers who leave their buggies in the MIDDLE of the aisle and disappear, or block the entire aisle while they talk to someone they just saw. Sorry, ranting got out of hand, what was the question again?...See Morepurchased anything from dollar stores
Comments (35)I received this email today and figured it was another urban legend, so I checked it out on Snopes. Unfortunately, it's the truth. It's enough to keep me out of Dollar Stores forever. I've got enough junk as it is. Investigating Dollar Stores A news investigation on dollar stores (including Dollar Tree and others): They discovered the Crest, Colgate and other brand name toothpastes weren't the same as from drug, and grocery stores etc. The toothpastes were manufactured in many other countries and are not approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). There was even some from South Africa and the fluoride is ten times stronger than what we're allowed in the U.S. (prescription strength). They're allowed stronger because they don't have fluoridated water (like we do). So if we (or our kids) use it often and occasionally swallow it, we could be poisoning ourselves. The dollar stores declined to comment and a full investigation has begun. So stick to paying full-price at your grocery store, drug store, and send this e-mail to anyone who MIGHT shop at dollar stores. This is a true story. It has been confirmed on Snopes. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/toothpaste.asp This is also true of food products, cake mixes, cereal, etc. Here is a link that might be useful: Dollar Store junk on Snopes...See MoreGlass tile: Store brand vs. Name brand
Comments (8)The tile looks very similar to our backpsplash tile (Artisitic Tile's Opera Glass Stillato pattern--we used Wolfgang White). I don't know how much quality difference there is, or who actually manufactures the different tile. When we were ordering our bathroom tile, I think the salesperson told us that there are only a few actual tile manufacturers, who then make the tile for the various "names" or companies. Our floor tile is sold as Atlas Concorde tile, but AKDO either makes or distributes the tile for them (or something like that!). Perhaps you could ask at the tile store who actually makes the tile you are considering (esp the one sold under the store name). Maybe they are both manufactured by the same company. As for vertical vs horizontal, it's really a matter of personal preference. I had it in my head from the start that we should have ours installed vertically, so that's what we did (DH liked it that way, too), but it would have looked just as beautiful hung horizontally. DH especially liked the waterfall effect of the tile coming down from the ceiling behind our hood/chimney, over the range (after I convinced him that we really did need to run the tile all the way up to the ceiling!). Good luck deciding! :-) Either color will look great in your sleek contemporary kitchen!...See Morejannie
