interior design software?

Can anyone recommend some user friendly software for interior design? I'd love something where I can import pics of furniture, fabric, etc... from websites that I find. Is there such a thing out there? I'm working on decorating my own house, but I also want to help my parents in their new remodel and my mom is very visually challenged so I'd love something that I can print off and show her, or email to her. I know some of you use photoshop, but is there something else out there that's not so expensive (and a little less time consuming to learn, lol!)

I used Better Homes and Gardens Interior Designer when designing our new house. It really helped with visualizing the floor plans. It also has a library of different manufacturers paint colors you can use. You can import pictures as well. It's made by Chief Architect. It certainly is not the easiest software to use(has a learning curve) and does have a few quirks that can get a bit annoying, but it's relatively inexpensive.

Thanks so much! I will have to check that one out. So can I import pics of furniture (say from Pottery Barn or wherever) into this program?

You'll want to use something like Revit then, or if you're looking for something to start with and free I'd agree sketch up is the way to go. I think you'll find that with the programs you are using importing and exporting into vwx will be clunky and possibly inconsistent. Revit also plays well with autoCAD which, in theory is more likely to be used by the architects/engineers you'd be working with on those kind of corporate projects.

This isn't a tile layout tool, but I use Squid on an android tablet for putting stuff together. It has an odd user interface but you get used to it (swearing might help).

It depends how much you like to spend, this is a good start-up packagefor about $500 it comes with tons of pre-loaded catalogs of tiles, furniture, etc. Look around there see what would work for you best, I think they have a trial version. Good luck

I'm interested in the same thing and haven't found the best option yet. I was tinkering with SketchUp and the learning curve is too long for me at this point. I Googled this and various ones came up, not free though.
