You're right, Margo. Concerning 'Brass Horn', Zilis writes in The Hostapedia, similar types: 'Fool's Gold', 'Fortunei Aureomarginata', "Mackwoods No. 23" If I understand Zilis correctly, 'Brass Horn' = fortunei stenantha aureo-marginata = 'Fortunei Stenantha Aureomarginata = "Mackwoods No. 23" = 'Fools Gold'. At the same time, Zilis says that 'Brass Horn' is similar to 'Fool's Gold', 'Fortunei Aureomarginata', and "Mackwoods No. 23". I can see why Zilis says 'Brass Horn' is similar to 'Fortunei Aureomarginata' because they look somewhat alike. However, I don't know why he'd say that 'Brass Horn' is similar to 'Fool's Gold' and "Mackwoods No. 23" if they are in fact the same hosta. That's a little confusing! Under Zilis' entry for 'Fool's Gold' (page 297), he says that 'Fool's Gold' "...is the fancy name for 'Fortunei Stenantha Aureomarginata' in Europe, but the plant is no different from 'Brass Horn' (the fancy name for 'Fortunei Stenantha Aureomarginata' in the U.S.)." So why would you say they are similar if they're one and the same plant?

No H's to post from me....... I like Heavenly Tiger Tails too and I'm not a big UF fan. I'm still on the fence about teeth and the daylily HORNS leaves me still sitting on it. An oddity for sure. Yes Margaret, they do take some mowing, but I can get them all done in an hour now at a brisk pace having just sold the big ride on mower, it was an animal! Hi Christopher, trouble with our English sun is that its a bit elusive, here one moment and gone the next! That said, my plants do seem to be doing well in what sun we do get and the fact that they are permanently in the g/h and catching whatever rays they can, seems to suit them very well. There's plenty of ventilation in there as it can get rather hot on a sunny day. I hope your cuttings do well for you too. Gill UK
