Rain lilies - Zephyranthes - are related to Amaryllis so no, not a 'true' lily (Lilium genus). There is an Amaryllis/Hippeastrum forum on Garden Web if you are interested.

With the exception now and again of the variegated form, they are almost impossible to find outside of a few mail order sources and none are ranked or selected for a stronger fragrance than others. However the species - just the straight Convallaria majalis - is widely available almost anywhere. It is a strong, robust plant with an intense, carrying fragrance. IME, it is the number of flower spikes produced that create the fragrance intensity and the species is a prolific bloomer.

Chinensis might be one of my favorites, but probably only because it bloomed twice for me (and only one stalk last year). No signs of anything here. But.... one of my lycoris incarnata sent up three stems and is looking awesome. Other bulbs are literally five inches away and doing nothing, but this one bulb and it's one neighbor have sent up four stalks all together! I was joking that my squamigeras are flowering well this year because I threw construction debris and trash around them. Gave them that abandoned lot vibe and made them feel at home.
