Oh,no~Another cat pooping thread!!!

My cat is 6 years old and in very good health. He's been neutered, has all shots, and is an indoor and ONLY cat.

For 6 years,he has NEVER pooped anywhere but his litter box.

This morning I found a pile of turds in front of my kitchen though! I'am VERY upset about this, because I'm an unlikely person to keep a cat that does this (doesnt mean I'd have him put to sleep, but I would not keep a cat that does this.I live in an apartment,so I'd have to pay for the damages and I dont have that kind of money)

His litter box isnt dirty, which I know is one reason why cats do this, but his box is virtually spotless.

It isnt runny like diareea where maybe he just had an accident.

I'm thinking he is mad because last night we took down my daughter's bunk bed.We decided she should have a normal bed,so we put up the new one and took down the bunk.He claimed the top bunk as his and always slept up there.

So,the bunk is taken apart and in my living room...and the turds were right near it!

I'm no expert, but could this be a territorial thing over the bunk bed?

If so,how do I correct it? We are giving the bunk to a neighbor today.
