This wildflower with glossy leaves a few inches long was found in the Central Texas Hill Country (back in February). (I uprooted it only because the area was going to be scraped clear, anyways.) What is it?

I stand corrected. Have a ton of blue curls and was shooting from the hip on the foliage. Yes, its been a great spring and my native gardens are doing great, although they are in recovery mode from a deer grazing. They left no plant untouched except the bee balm. Just got back from the NE Ga mts. Yes, there is a large patch of Frasera on my plot. Will be back up and get some pics. In my younger days I tromped all over those mountains and recall the hilltop pools. Was more into fishing and timber than looking at plants. But if I ever get back to one I will be on the look for Isoetes.

Since I don't know CA species, I can't tell you which, but it's an evening primrose, Oenethera unless the botanists have reclassified everything while I wasn't looking.

I agree. Radish, or else something so closely related it *thinks* it's a radish, lol. I'm terrible about letting my radishes bolt instead of uprooting them and composting them before they go to seed, so I've seen many a radish bloom. But even without the bloom, the leaves are very indicative of radish.
