Shasta, the area that I am in is considered a high desert, with summertime highs ranging from the upper 80's to over 100. But even though it is pretty hot, and the sun is very intense here, the humidity is very low, and the nighttime temperatures are usually in the 50's in the summer. I grew up in the hot, humid south, and I love it here! Some people around here actually put humidifiers in their homes to put moisture back into the air, but if I wanted to live in a sauna, I'd move back to the south, LOL! Bonnie

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments. This is peak bloom time in my garden, and I love to share it at this time of year. Sydneylanier, I've noticed a few of mine didn't get attacked either, and the one's that did are starting to look better and better every day. I'm glad that mess isn't going to go on for the whole bloom season! Eddie, hope you can come back and visit again real soon. Don't forget, I still want a copy of your cd!! Rose, I wish I was a better planner....I don't think enough about what things will look like at maturity, so really I end up creating a lot more work for myself!

Cindy: When your SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS blooms, do post a pic. I've got that one too from Curt but it is not a star performer here yet. Debra: This many blooms this late has to be due to the amount of rain we got over the past month. I don't recall this much showing at this late date. Mantis: yes, earlier pics of GEECHEE were better but just shows how much a late opening with cool temps can do to a daylily. Celeste: I've admired your pics of COUSIN SUZANNE. The race is definitely on here too! Linda and Kay: I'm so thankful to get these blooms this late in the season. I'm always on the scape hunt because I just never know what will show itself. KIOWA SUNSET has always been a favorite of mine. It is registered as a EE but here, it doesn't start blooming till early July and the scapes are taller than 23" as registered. Well, the weather turned and we are already up at 60 degrees F here this morning. Rain, rain, rain so I guess that is why our temps moderated. Julia
