That is not grandis. It looks like it has some listada in it which has been the parent of a lot of hybrids. 'Magdalene Madsen' is one of the more popular hybrids.

Sherry, I think the Cloudless Sulphurs are flying earlier this year - I saw one yesterday and was real surprised to see it. Probably due to the warmer temps and the strong southerly winds we've been having. Seeing more Monarchs this year than ever before in my garden! Angie, I am in the "red" or orange zone, too. We have wildfires right now all around us. The smoke makes the atmosphere hazy and you can smell it, too. People are having trouble breathing. We've had a red flag fire warning and burn ban for so long now, it seems normal. The ground is so dry, the water just rolls off of it. It's taking me forever to get the plants watered right now. Dust is everywhere and on everything. Even my car has a thick coat of dust on it. I gave the plants a "bath" this morning and I think they really appreciated it. I grow my tomatos in containers and am using some Sunleaves grow bags this year, too. The bags are not expensive. I get them from Worm's Way and they have a white exterior so plants don't bake in them. They are prepunched and ready to go. Thought I'd give them a whirl. Lots of people using them and having good luck with them, too. Your photos are gorgeous, MissSherry! I think you should consider putting together a "coffee table" book of them for all of us to enjoy! I read a little about Orange Sceptre and it's a very pretty new color for buddleia, out of the University of Arkansas breeding program. Looks like it may stay evergreen for you, Sherry! Siam I hate to say this...really. But what are you doing here. Go and study. Now I sound like your mom don't I hahaha JUST KIDDING About the what are you doing here. I was JUST thinking about you when I took a picture of the Canna seedlings growing and growing. I am SO excited! Man and do they ever grow fast!! So far 4 of yours have germinated :-) Now one Canna seedling from Karma's mix is the only one out of many others, that is mostly green, but the outer edge is kind of redish. Got any idea what this will turn into? Yes I know it will be a Canna roflmao But how about the color of the leaves? Hey, just another thing I've learned along the way. If it gets any sun at all, (which I've learned the hard way that they have to if you want any blooms)...then try putting a big golf type umbrella over them to provide constant shade. This has really worked for me in the past. Might look a little strange but will be worth it. I also learned these umbrellas were a huge help when we pressure wash the house in the Spring. I just cover all my roses, shrubs, and anything else up with these umbrellas. It worked GREAT!!
