i want this new sony camera dsc-hx1

This cyber shot is sold out everywhere, so I can't have it. I like cybershots, I have had two, one was stolen, I like the idea it can shot 10 frames per second. My digital are so slow to record, they are not good for pets, by the time they are ready to take another photo, the pet has moved to another location. What you think of this camera or would you buy an Olympus instead? I looked it them, but the menu seems hard to figure out, because I am used to the cybershot. I have time to wait and see how other people like it. I call it the "hex 1" for short.

I don't have that model, but I do have a Sony DSC-H2 and it's a great camera. Never had a moment's trouble in 3 years. Have you ever visted the Flickr.com site? They have great groups and I bet you can find a lot of information there.

I have used flickr, but I never see any talk groups about types of cameras. Of course, if the camera is a turkey, then I want to know that also. I have had two cybershots, the newer one was stolen at a dog park, and the old one is really out of date.

Thanks so much, zep516 and EmmaR. Unfortunately, I don't see a .jpeg, mts or mpeg format. I was looking for something with an extension like that, but couldn't find it. I looked again after I saw your answers and found a file in the STREAM folder named 00000 and the file type was AVCHD video. When I clicked that file, it played in Media Player just fine. EmmaR, I loved my old Canon cameras. Unfortunately, I've misplaced my old one and needed a new one. The Sony was in my budget and had the type of viewfinder I like, so I got it. I'm so glad you were able to get yours fixed, and for such a reasonable price! Thank you both for the help.

I can appreciate your being gun-shy of shopping at E-Bay, the secret is finding a reputable business there. Or if you choose to buy from individual, always remember to check out their history of trades or selling record. I've used Camata Camera's, they have a store at Ebay that you can buy item's directly from. They are very good, honest,and sell only top quality. I'm not sure how much you want to spend or what type of photography that your going to be doing. Canon now has the Canon Power-Shot SD20 that is a 5 mega-pixel and come with plenty of extras. The extras are items that you will need to start with & buying as a package will save you $$$. Take a look at it & see what you think about it. Sorry, I can't find that menu flash off/on either. Hubby did it. He showed it to me so I thought that was good too, but now I can't find it. I'm not sure if that was the wise way to go. It was in the "set-up" menu so am thinking it is still off. It was nice not to have to remember to always do it with the contro button. However.....to get it back on I had to go through the settings using the contro button. Personally....I wouldn't recomend going through the menu. In some settings the flash won't go on (read booklet)(read me first) but at least now I do have a flash. Love the camera but We'll just use the "auto" from now on.

LOL.. yep, his hair started thinning out in highschool. he came home from college one weekend completely bald! lol The guys told him if he went and shaved his head, they'd let him buy back in to the poker game for free! (he is a lousy poker player still lol) So he did. He was thinking about shaving anyways. the photos are very clear...

If you go to Flickr and search "groups" for Sony, there are some choices of groups. You'll want to click on "discussion" when you get to the group. I picked this one. Perhaps someone there might know more about that model. HTH.
