I would NOT advise California Rare Fruit Growers. It costs 30.00 to join for a year, & the seeds look great, but I have not received one seed from them. I ordered several seeds from them the entire year I joined, & they kept on taking orders despite problems with their seed bank. They announced there would be a delay, and then shut down the seed bank, but that was after taking in about 8 months of orders. They got a new seed bank manager this year. The new seed manager started taking new orders without catching up on the old ones. I have not heard of anyone with past orders have not received their seeds.

I don't have a lot of experience with seed sellers so I canÂt tell you who is reliable. What I do is work backwords. My state government web site has a list of endangered and threatened species. Find the site for your state and do searches to see which plants grow best on your property - sun, shade, wet, dry. Use that list to search for the plant names. Searches often turn up places that sell the seeds. Some sellers have sites with great information. I save the URLs and will be buying seeds and plants as my budget allows. There are a lot of sites that donÂt turn up when you search for a plant name. You could try the Garden Watchdog at DaveÂs Garden, which has reviews of plant sellers, or just search topics like Ânative plant seedsÂ, Ânative plant sellersÂ. Search Garden web also, there are many old posts about different sellers and bad or good service. I know seeds from some of our endangered Michigan plants can be found. I have seen sellers for threatened milkweeds, queen of the prairie etc. I like reading sites like Easyliving, Prairie Moon, Oak Prairie Farms. fraser's thimblefarms had dwarf raspberry, sunlightgardens had pussytoes. With wildflowers, availability changes all the time. I think it is best to make just a small order the first time. Keep reading gardenweb and donÂt forget to copy down any good information you find. I know of people having snail problmes after adding peat to their bins and after having their bins outside for a while. None ever reported any problems with the snails as far as bin conditions. Pick them out or try a beer bait cup to catch them. Here is a link that might be useful: WormMainea

Hi, I have found just wash the shell grit and place around the top of the pot of the new seedlins the same with egg shells when finished with the egg put the shells ( stockpile them till you get enough and put them in the oven when you have takenout the sunday roast the remaining heat will dry out the shells, then break them all up and scatter around the plant you want to protect.
