recommedations for a small camera

I am thinking of buy a small size camera to take quick snaps of people at the conventions I attend. My camera with the macro is too heavy to carry around. I would like it run on regular batteries, and also I would like build in memory. This would save the cost of those rechargeable batteries, and also the memory stick. That way I could save money. I used a friends small camera and I was not happy. The batteries would run down constantly, and when it clicked it makes a noise that is odd, like a short bark. This unsettles people. I do not want a movie mode. But, so many of them have that now. I donÂt want a lot of extra features, that I wonÂt use. I have a video camera if I want to take a movie. It is the same problem when you by a video camera, it has to take stills. Yet, the stills are awful with a movie camera. Why do they force features that are unwanted? Video should be done by video camera and stills by still camera. I would think all the unwanted features would add to the price, and add extra bulk and weight. I looked around, but did not see anything yet, that would match this discription.

I have attached a link to Steve's Digicam page. If you scroll down, you will find reviews of ultra small pocketable cameras.

If you go with a really inexpensive camera - you will not be happy with the images it takes.

Why not look for one that takes the same type of card as your current camera - that would be a cost savings. As far as I know - any that a built in memory do not hold very much. Many come with a card (a small one).

My experience with the "regular" battieries - not rechargable - are than they do not have a very long life.

My current small camera has a proprietary battery - All I have to do is plug the camera in like a cell phone to charge. It will take over 50 picutres using a flash. When it was new it would take several hundred. I have used it heavily for about 3.5 year.

Thanks, those are really modern. What I am seeing in the stores is way out of date. I think my Sony cyber shot is also way out dated. For example the batteries are huge, and the memory stick is also too primitive. I got the camera in 2001. I do remember what a huge expense the batteries and memory stick were. They add quite a bit to the over all price. I remember how guilty I felt about over spending.

I love lantana, too. I usually keep mine in pots or hanging baskets because of the winter cold. I rarely have it come back unless it's on the west side of the house. When I go off the mountain and down into the warmer So.Cal. zones I can find it growing like a tall shrub. There is a center median on a street near Loma Linda Hospital where it is huge and in bloom nearly year round. Gorgeous oranges, pinks and purples - always makes me want some skittles after I see it. ; ) I hope yours grows well for you. It really is a nice cottage plant. Diana

all manufactures including lennox, make all grades of direct vent fireplaces builder grade fireplaces all have this in common tempered glass not so attractive logs not many options as far as fronts, refractory brick package etc. mid grade fireplaces will have tempered glass good looking logs some front and brick options high end fireplaces have ceramic glass extensive ember beds great looking logs lots of front and brick options price points builder mid >$1000 high end >$2000 Mid grade and high end will usually have a decent efficiency rating, ceramic glass ones put out the most heat because ceramic glass transferrs infrared heat very well. Some good manufactures are: fireplace extrodinare heatilator caliber series jotul acadia lexington forge heat n glo mendota lennox majestic im sure there are others, but all these manufactures offer every thing from builder grade to high end efficient models. front - it really depends on what you need to store. I can't suggest highly enough that you take an inventory of what you have and begin to lay out where those things would be best stored. From there, you can begin to determine your best layout for the drawers. We have no way of knowing from your description where those stacks are other than the 15" one, nor do we know what you keep and need to store. Personally, if I had a 15" by a range, I would probably store hot pads, a trivet or two, often used cooking utensils and some spices. Since most of those things are rather flat, probably a 4-drawer stack would work well.
