Hey Everyone,

What do you think about this photo? I'm no expert photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but I think its pretty good. The person who shot this pic use to post here at GW. Now no longer feels welcome or doesn't fit in. Has been reduced to a lurker not a poster. All my photos and posting are just for fun. More show and tell than quality photography. I'm hoping that anybody that likes taking photos will post here and not feel threatened. So come on show me yours and I will show you mine!!!

Why would she feel threatened? That is a shame. This is one of few sites (photography) on the net where harsh criticism is never offered, that I have seen. That's what makes it so nice.

That's a very nice photo- such good looking young people. Mine are definitely amateur quality but I like sharing them with others. She should come on back- everyone is welcome to post.

Does she enjoy family reunions? Maybe you could organize a "family party" near her birthday (I agree August is pretty far off) and have a nice cake with candles. For my 50th, my husband gave me the nicest gift, and it might be nice for your aunt, too, because she doesn't like to be the center of attention and might not like toasts or tributes to her at the party. He contacted all the relatives and friends -- including old friends from school and even camp! -- and asked them to send him a favorite memory or story. He put photos in, too. I ADORE it -- it's the nicest gift I ever got. We had done this years for my parents' 40th anniversary, and they loved it, too. So you could do this for your aunt; buy a pretty scrapbook and ask all the relatives and, if you know who her best friends are, them, too, to contribute. Maybe you could invite a few of her friends to the dinner, too? If all of this would still be too much fuss for her, maybe just have a small group take her for a little trip or something. Then the focus is off her, even though she is the guest of honor. We and my SIL's family are taking my MIL on a family trip for her 80th (although she LOVES being the center of attention!). If that is still too much, then just take her to dinner at the best restaurant you can do and give her a nice gift and/or a generous gift to her favorite charity. If I were your aunt, I would love any of these, because they all share the most important thing: they show you love and honor her. You are a good niece!

I am a lawyer in California and the reason nobody can help you so far is that you have left out information that is important. If you were divorced in California go down to the courthouse and pull the file. Look at the entry of judgment--what is the date of the divorce? Whats the date of the new marriage? If you were divorced in another state, get the record, its not difficult. Bring that info to a family law attorney and they can tell you what your rights are. There is no common law marriage in this state but there may be some help anyway. If it was an error in the record, maybe it could be corrected. You are not a domestic partner unless you register as one in this state and there are restrictions. You may need to approach this from a real estate legal standpoint, if its not a valid marriage. The name on the deed probably was changed during refinance, it could happen. You probably signed a bunch of papers you didn't read, but the next time you sign anything that gets notarized and you have to put your thumbprint in the notary book in California I suggest you go out for coffee instead. If you have a realtor friend, have them pull all of the deeds back to when the property was purchased. Take all of this stuff to a family law attorney who also knows something about real estate. All of these documents are important, no attorney can give you any advice until they see them. By the way, its not so easy to throw you out of the house. I would want to know why your credit was bad and hers wasn't. Don't you file joint tax returns? I suspect there is a lot of paperwork that you never look at. Start now. Pick an attorney near where you live, this is an involved problem and you need to solve it now.

"why is she on state assistance, she is married and gets child support etc how does she get state assistance? based on what?" She only got married this past February--3 months ago. She has lived with her now-husband for almost 3 years now, and lived with another guy before that. But she doesn't/didn't tell the welfare office that. She uses her parent's address as her address so the state thinks she lives alone. She actually collects monetary assitance FOR her baby daughter, but the state garnishes it out of her hubby's paycheck. On casenet, a case has been filed against him. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul! As far as child support, she doesn't really collect any for SS. She gets $277/month from my DH but all of that goes to the state to pay back the benefits she received for 5+ years. Once that "tab" is paid, which will take YEARs, THEN she will start getting the $277/month but not until then. It is amazing how easy it is to cheat the system.

No I do not have any belief that abuse happened. My dad has always been like this with my sister for two reasons. 1-her mom died when she was young and he thinks that he is doing her good by always letting her do what she wants. 2-he likes drama and wants to be in the middle of everything! Today my dad "attempted" to make up with me in time to come to my house for Thanksgiving. He had my sm call me and tell me that if I just let this go and never speak of it again it can end! LMFAO I told her that I am unable to accept that whenever my sister is mad that my dad feels the need to jump in the problem and get involved. I said that I asked him to stay out of it and instead he was nasty to me and would only listen to my sisters side of it all. And when my sister went overboard and I tried to talk to him he told me to leave him out of it. And from the very beginning he said he was not coming to my home to celebrate my youngest sisters bday as a way of proving his loyalty to my other sister or something! I said that I could not let these things go without an apology. My dad told her to tell me that I had a choice....either be right or be happy. I said that I am sick of the way he always jumps on my sisters side and tries to play hero for her. And he was dead wrong in deciding not to celebrate my youngest sisters bday with me and my kids because my other sister was mad at me. And I said I can not just let it go and pretend it did not happen. She repeated it all to my dad who then told her to tell me to "go to he77"

Did someone say something to make her feel not welcome?

Personally, I enjoy ALL of the photos posted here. I don't think it is a contest to see who takes the best photos, but instead to share what we take photos of, and new ideas on what and how to take pictures.

I always get ideas on taking pictures from other posters here, and I enjoy seeing what I see in these photos since much of it is so far away from here and I like to see other parts of the country/world.

The photo above is excellent, especially the depth of field, which brings the focus on the couple IN the photo and softens the background. The lighting is also very impressive, something that doesn't come easily to me.

Once, again, I don't judge pictures here as if they were in some kind of competition. I view them to enjoy what others have and see in their lives.

Gmom74, you also have a nice picture there. Nice rose! Is that a hydrangea to the left of the rose??

Thank you, kt- yes, the rose is actually sort of coming up through that hydrangea. I'm just letting them grow together.

That's a very nice rose gmom74. Even the leaves look great!

I grow only rugosa type roses. Sense I don't spray any chemicals, it's hard to grow spot free Tea and other types of roses. Besides you get hips from rugosas. Here's a white one. I will try to take some better pics tomorrow.

Very nice photo Eric...And like you,eric...joann, gmom, bigack, clairdo, cherbo, kentuck, enjoy coming here to see others photos and to share mine...Far from pro, I don't know if you could say amateur, but just a love of taking photos...Actually, when I discovered the photograghy forum I was so inspired and was not as yet a contributing member, but I became one so I could post here, gardening forum was where I was at alot...I too hope everyone feels welcomed...

Nice rose, gmom and a rugosa rosa?, is that any different than others, Eric? I think about trying roses but don't care too much for thorns...any thorny stuff seems to jump at me and I get hooked...but, here's a pic closest to not geting hooked...kids gave me for MD...aperture & macros setting and softened with filter...
