The roses which will go on the arbor are: 1) A Dawson't Apple Blossom, which we had to dig up - it was previously growing (slowly - but it had made about 8 feet in 4 years - not bad for being in full shade all summer) on the tree trunk. We have another one which we inherited with the garden - it is an old fashioned rambler - that one is growing 15 feet up our crab apple tree - I love it. 2) The tea rose (prior to 1900, Cl tea or tea noisette) 'Ley's Perpetual' (soft yellow). 3) Not sure - I have a mystery rose in a pot which I rescued from a place where a new building is going - it is red - might be Don Juan - might be a climber. I am waiting for it to get bigger to see what it does in its pot. Jackie P.S. I'm a bit skeptical that there will be as much EAB mortality as one would hope. EAB survived and continued to expand its range in Michigan's UP after the polar vortex years of 13/14 and 14/15. And keep in mind that EAB's native range includes northern China, Mongolia, and the Russian Far East, where temps can get quite low. I saw one report that White Ash and Green Ash that had been planted in parks and arboreta in Khabarovsk, Russia, were killed by EAB. Winters are pretty severe there. I've also read that EAB in this country are genetically closer to Chinese and Russian EAB than they are to Korean and Japanese EAB, which would indicate that N American EAB should be well adapted to the cold.

I just repainted my bedroom, but when it was painted on my walls, it had a light periwinkle tinge to it that I was not a fan of. It did make my bedroom seem a but smaller since it was darker than I had wanted.

Bpath, try Julia Child's recipe for Supremes. It is our favorite recipe. I had a nice call from our daughter in Texas the other day. I don't know when we have had such a leisurely chat. She usually calls as she is driving somewhere, and the call tends to be the duration of that drive. Since she lives in a small suburb of Ft Worth, 3 or 4 minutes would be it. Now she called, and one of the first things she said is how much she is enjoying the Covid 19 shut in. She says she has done projects around the house that she has put off, especially organizing all the china and silver plates and platters in their recently constructed china cabinets in their dining room. She inherited china and old silver platters and plates from her DHs family. Now she can actually use them. She has joined the boys in reading their online lessons and work sheets and likes that she fully understands what they are learning in 4th and 7th grade for a change. She is enjoying the leisurely family time such as family bike rides in their little suburb, gardening, and seeing the kids fish in their pond. And she laughs that she is the only one of her friends who does not have roots showing as she has always done her own highlighting. She recently gave her DH a hair cut, and he said he liked the results. They have always cut the boys' hair, but this was another first. She just loves the quiet family time and the break from the usual rat race pace.
