Gracias! It surely is. I have many different species of Justicia in my collection and I will determinately add this pretty gem. I have many that would be considered 'weeds' by my other neighbors.

Thank you both. In a way, you are botth right because Carol got the name, and you were right, she is likely to be more correct than ________ (fill in the blank with any name, especially mine.) Mimulus ringens. The notes on it I read said it was a perennial. Great, since there are hundreds of plants, I think I'll try to spread them to other wet areas. This year I notice Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) growing alongside the Mimulus. Thanks again.

The spent blooms in the photos don't distract me. You may have noticed my recent photos have them too for the same reason you stated. Jason Salter has a very different pattern, and I always love seeing Siloam David Kirchhoff. That's one of the few miniatures I've kept around. To most folks this is a weed. "Dandelion" You can eat the leaves and flowers. Make fritters out of the flowers. Don't eat the milky stem. These are escaped from the cultaved species.

They don't quite look like the dandelions from here, but still very pretty, none-the-less. I agree, they are edible.
