It's in a fairly shady spot on the west side of a fence - so no chance of any direct light in the morning and little in the afternoon due to neighboring trees. Thought this was why the original vine was so lethargic, but the children don't seem too hampered by the lack of light and are pretty well covered with buds even in the shadiest areas. The new vines have just topped the fence where they can catch significantly more light, so waiting to see if that changes things. The flowers are very pretty, though small and inconspicuous. I like the large-leaf foliage in contrast to our coral honeysuckle, cross vine, clematis, and VA creeper and hoping it will eventually fill out enough to support some cats.

What do you have in mind?

I was not expecting it to die outright in zone 6, just not spread invasively like in the south, especially being in a pot. So does anyone else think it will die in zone 6? I had seen on Daves Garden site that it grows in NY Ohio etc, I guess they could be zone 6b if in a city setting. A zone 5 gardener has seen it there too, I just don't know if was growing as an annual. Thanks.

I can dig some up for you. Looks like a priority flat rate small box is like $7 and change. I think I can find some passiflora caerulea as well if you're interested. Just be forewarned, the incarnata comes up everywhere once established. My zone7a winters knock it back down to the ground, but it's returns with a vengeance. The caerulea vine is much more likely to successfully overwinter for me, but doesn't quite spread as readily as the maypop. The maypops are easy to identify when they are sprouting in the spring, but all summer I'm pulling them up from some bed or the other. If you're still interested I could go for some fig cuttings.
