Oh, man. This is all making me so sad. The whole reason we got two new sun tubes in the living room was to pull in full spectrum light, but now I find that in order to counter the blue cast from these things, I might have to add more cast. What I will say is that if your have the 14" sun tunnels from Velux, they sell a "neutral light" filter that is spec'd at around 3600K, so, not sure how that compares to using a theater gel, but it might work for some people, and you don't have to cut it yourself. For my purposes, I am going to have to do some other experimenting, because I need more of the spectrum, not less of it (for me to do artwork, but also my plants). If anyone has been able to track down the source of the bluing (is it the diffuser, or the inside of the tube, or possibly the dome on top?), that would be a huge help. Of course, I will check for the blue film! Thank you all! Addendum: I just took the diffuser out and looked at the light coming in, and it is definitely not the diffuser causing the bluing, nor is there a film in there. It's the top dome I think. I conveniently have an older sun tube in my bathroom that does not do the bluing thing, and it also does not have a tinted dome on top, so that seems like the main difference between them. Now I am wondering if the dome can be replaced maybe with something not tinted...

rugs are too small, there is no entry light (that I can see) instead of a mirror, do some colorful art, the bench could be better, instead of the tall tree, do some hangers on the wall. (i'll post examples of those) paint the wall and the door a diff color. The entry has no pizzazz. give it some Like this. your mirror is too small and too high. redo the entry like shown here or, try some contrasting elements like this charcoal jute runner, dark console, style it w/diff elements, maybe do a board and batten wainscot, paint the door, etc. plenty of space to hang things. painted door, wainscot, bigger rug, light bring in a runner w/some life and color. ditto a hanging light don't know if you need this much storage, but this is an idea art longer bench, larger mirror, a plant, some wood accent on the ceiling and a diff rug. easy fixes

Well, you’ve now had the “color expert“ provide you with the info you needed re: HRW and Extra White. FYI - I’ve heard that some SW stores will ”doctor” their Extra White base in order to provide “HRW” to a customer for a line that doesn’t offer it - BUT it won’t be an exact match to HRW. Lori - I was drawing blank re: Renner and Milesi when I posted yesterday! I knew it was 2k (or sometimes 1k) polys - but I could not remember any product names! FYI, Lori has many great posts about color - and how to select ones that will work with each other. It’s technical - but easy to understand. I’ve searched ”Houzz” and “Lori A. Sawaya” + whatever issue I need an answer for re: paint colors - and have always found very detailed information that she’s already posted for someone else before (example, “how to select white paint color for trim”). I’ve kind of been her Internet stalker! You could use Chantilly Lace on your cabinets - since it will be a different sheen, the color will look different on the cabinets when next to your walls (in a good way)
