but I enjoy keepin up with friends & family& seeing the great pics

I finally broke down and joined a few weeks ago and I enjoy Facebook. It's not as 'social' as I thought but it's a nice centralized way to keep in touch with people. One of my other message boards moved to Facebook and it's easier to get an e-mail whenever anything new is posted than to keep checking a message board (that one is not as big and busy as this one).

I'm on facebook. How do you find others here on facebook?

im on fb too. mostly for farmville and other such things. its really not to hard to figure out, i had to have my 13 yr old neice show me. anything you post on your wall automatically goes to youre profile but stays on the main one. yep im sure thats no help lol.

I'm on Facebook, but I don't really know how to use it very well. I can't even figure out how to get that message on there about who sees what.

I am also on Facebook- I have quite a few KT friends there! If anyone would like to add me as a friend you can email me through gardenweb and I will send you my info. I love reading what everyone is up to and of course seeing the photos that are shared.

One thing you can do is to email people you're interested in "friending" through the Garden Web and ask them to send you their info for it. Another way is to join the KT facebook group and you'll see a lot (but not all) of people you know, and you can request that they be your friend.

How do I find the KT FB group?

I'm having great fun with some of my high school friends. We send a f/b message to our whole group, and then we keep hitting "reply to all" and commenting- and it's private to our group alone when we do it that way. Some of my friends are very funny- we find this to be a very entertaining past time. I know you can do that by email too, but you can incorporate your wall, if you want. I never do apps.

I've looked high and low for the KT Facebook group and cannot find it.

Paula, in the search bar at the top of FB page, type in The Kitchen Table Gang and it will bring you to that page. You will have to confirmed before you can post there, but it won't take long. There it has a list of people's KT names and FB names.

I tried it for a bit, but when I saw a friend's "friends" were listed by full names and where they live......well, waaaay too much information. I saw alot of this info about KT members. I was also able to see all sorts of conversations which were not directed at me and really none of my business. I closed my account.

You can adjust your settings to various privacy levels. People who really don't want info out there set their settings so that the people who can view their info is limited- if it can be viewed at all. I have mine set so that only friends of friends can find me, not the general public. Because I control who I let in, I'm less private than I would be if my profile was more open. As for the conversations you could see... that's just your "wall". People only post info there that they don't expect to be private. It's like having a conversation at a coffee shop, or any public place.

Sandy - who confirms the request? How will they know who I am? It didn't give me a chance to give my KT name.

To those confused about the profile wall page. The news page which you see on your own site only has everything you posted and all that others posted that are your friends. But that page isn't seen by all. When you visit anothers site you see their wall not their news page. I am Audrey Taylor on facebook

kim_okla, click on "Groups" on the left side of your FB page, and you'll probably see The Kitchen Table Gang as one of your groups now.

Susan, I know there are different ways to do the privacy settings, but I still don't know HOW to do it. The one I see most on other pages is "XXXX only shares some of her profile information with everyone. If you know XXXX, send her a message or add her as a friend."

Okay, so you find the KT Group, which I haven't looked for yet, and you have to ask to join? Suppose nobody asks you?

Sue, you go to "account", and then "privacy" and there are 5 subgroups you can choose from. You go into each of them, and change from the default to the selection you want, and then you click on "save".

I don't think you'll have a problem being selected into the group... and IF you did, it would only because because the request wasn't noticed right away. It's my understanding that KT members aren't "filtered" to see who of us will be accepted, just that it's a private group to KT members only. Hope I explained that well.

There have been four recent requests for membership, three of which were accepted because I or Lynda, the other administrator, recognized the names. The fourth is a guy named Scott. We're not sure who Scott is. So Scott, if you're reading this, let us know who you are.

Oh, that's a good point. When you request to join the KT group, you should mention your KT name in the message so that they know who you are.

Face book is not for old people.I'm 80 and joined .So confused.I did run into two of my gradeschool classmates.will stick with it a little longer.Hate to be a quitterat my age.

I really feel for people coming into Facebook for the first time. But it has its rewards once you figure it out.

I love the passiveness of it all. I'm not big into emails, been using it so long I'm burned out. In Facebook I can choose to reach out to someone or just sit back and take in all the photos and comments people contribute daily to their Facebook page. I can set filters so I don't have to deal with the people who post stuff I'm not interested in.
