I used to send an embroidered hand-made pillowcase with each Quilt of Valor. Yesterday I went to Linens and Things, thinking I could stock up on ready-made to embroider. I ended up buying a pair of pillowcases, but this isn't a great sale at all. They were only 10% off. I bought them because I have 2 quilts ready to send, and I'm about to leave on a trip. Maybe the sales prices will go down more in the next few weeks - if they do, I will stock up on pillowcases. If not, I will continue to make them, even though I don't enjoy making them.

Great pictures. Also gave up on lilies, fritillaria and toadlilies because of orange lily beetles about ten years ago. Interesting Woody re no evidence of lily beetles so far this year. As said, we had some very harsh weather last winter and this spring, so maybe the lily beetles (overwinter in the soil) have been reduced. Tempted to try these plants again. Sure many folks know (though I didn't till a couple of years ago) about the toxicity (including potential lethality) of members of the Genus Lilium (e.g. Easter, Tiger and Asiatic lilies), and also evidently Genus Hemerocallis (daylilies), to cats that ingesting material from them. The article below is primarily about potted indoor plants. Am, however, guessing that it's possible for cats to get lily pollen on their fur in the garden. Read of a veterinary case (albeit indoors, Easter lily) where the cat ingested pollen from cleaning it's fur and died a painful death within a week. chisue clarified after your first comment that the studies she saw had to do with coffee that was made using paper filters. In English, a coffee filter is most often is made of paper (and she said explicitly she used a Melita cone, which involves a paper filter). More recently, there are reusable replacements made of fine mesh. I remember seeing a study or two in the past and I think what was thought to be the troublesome part from a health standpoint was material contained in the sediments that could be removed only by using a paper filter. But i don't remember well enough to be certain. I'm not sure what you're thinking of. Your comment above about French press coffee and cafe filtre were not correct.

On weekdays, I am up early for work. Often I don’t eat breakfast. When I do, it is either dinner leftovers, or a croissant from the coffee shop near my office. I know that sounds awful, but I’ve gotten much better. For half my working life, I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch, just dinner. One meal a day. At least I stopped doing that. What is more important to me is coffee. I have an espresso shot at home, then a large black coffee at the coffee shop. Every day. I also have a coffee maker in the office, but I like saying hi to the coffee shop people. On weekends, my favorite thing to make for breakfast is roesti. Next favorite is omelettes. SWMBO likes to make bacon & scrambled eggs. So, nothing exotic. Your basic “comfort breakfast”. I do like some more interesting breakfasts too. Congee is really fun if you have varied toppings. When traveling in the UK, I got to like stewed tomatoes. We found roesti in Switzerland, though it’s not so much of a breakfast food there.
