Miles and miles of Texas

One thing we have out here in this part of the country is a mostly tee-totally unobstructed view. This is about 20 miles from the point of interest.

That's great!...Still allot of open space down there!
If it wasn't for the white cross, buildings and barb wire,
one could imagine it as a Mars scape! LOL

Ha. Mars might be insulted. ;)

The next time I'm out in the country around here Konrad I'll take one that cuts out any barb wire, and buildings - or any other sign of civilization, its usually not too hard to do around here.

The funny thing is without some of those cues for the eye, its hard to "see" that we are talking about a shot where you can see 20 miles.

My DH and I have been to the longest yard sale on Hwy 127 from Kentucky to Alabama several times. But its HOT!! We always come back with our jeep full of treasures though. Lol. Has anyone been to the Hwy 80 sale from East Texas to Vicksburg, Mississippi in October? That might be a lot cooler shopping weather. My DH says he's getting too old for the heat!! Lol. Janet

From my entomologist friend- "The lost the attachment after I looked at it but I peeked long enough to see it was a long-horned beetle. There are probably many that look like it, but tell your friends to google images of long-horned beetles in Texas. They should also try to use the family name, Cerambycidae, if the common name doesn't pan out. Maybe it's a "Texas long-horned"?" AND "Hi again Bill, The beetle is probably in the genus Clytus, but I can't get it any closer than that without spending a bunch of time. Longhorned beetle grubs live and bore in wood. The adults of the genus in the photo feed on pollen. I've seen many Clytus species on various daisy-type flowers (sunflower family)."

Anyone ever used PODS or ? to move 150 miles away?

No ideas, just a word of warning. When we hired a small company to move us 150 miles, we did not specify what route they'd take to our new home. We took the most direct route which took about 3 hours. They stuck to Major Highways and stopped for lunch (which I'd given them money for) and took 5 hours! So for almost 2 hours we were fretting about what in the world happened to the moving truck. Also, ask how many people they send. Four is better than three, two probably is not enough.

Gorgeous country! One time DH and I were driving in MT, we talked about the little town up ahead that we could see. We drove and drove and drove...finally realized we were looking at Helena, which had to have been about 30 or 40 miles away!

Its not quite Helena, Joan, but here's one of Amarillo from yesterday about 25 miles away on ridge in the Canadian River watershed NW of town.
