Are you wanting one that is perennial, or just one that will be beautiful the first year and then be pulled out? If you are looking for one that will reliably return and bloom as opposed to just putting up foliage and having sparse blooms, then you should either stick with the Darwin Tulips, or else the shorter Species tulips. The Triumph tulip 'Barcelona' is a brilliant vibrant pink. China Pink is a classic Lily-flowered tulip (but a bit pallid for my taste (which runs to the gaudy in tulips).

I am lucky to live near a town that has huge plantings of tulips.....each one named of course. I would never ever buy a "mix" of bulbs. I want to know just when they will bloom in relation to the others and how tall they will be etc. I would never depend on anyone else to choose for me what might look good together. One of the best tulip displays I ever say was in my neighbor's yard. She had tall darwin pale pink and a shorter deeper pink that bloomed at the same time, planted together and under planted with forget me nots. If you choose well you can have a long tulip period with many lovely combinations during that long bloom period. And no one would ever sell a mix of orange and pink tulips....but as Katrina says....theyw ere wonderful together. I think you just have to make your own choices. Linda C

Can I replant the bulbs right away as I have no place to store them over winter? Tulips are not stored over winter, but instead are usually planted in the fall. When is the best time to do this? The best time to do it would be anytime after the tulip foliage has died back, and browned a good bit, while still being able to be found. Once they are dug, store in a cool dry place until the tree is out, and then you can plant them anytime you are ready to. Sue
