An $8000 camera with ALL the bells and whistles. 21 meg shots. Wow, wouldn't that be fun?!

I'd need a new hard drive for storage right off the bat.

I use my flicker page to catalogue when I buy and what they are and then I stick them in the ground or the pot. I use # pencil on plastic tags or cut venetian blinds I put on cold hardiness info. I think I aim going to switch to a color code on them so I know when to haul in or cover. I am slowing down on my purchasing. The ones I love are getting BIG and the ones that bore me get left out in the cold. (I am a bad bad bad plant mom.) I am not that organized and I am much more worried about the aesthetics than remembering the name. I figure if I need the name , I can find it out by getting on the web fairly easily. Perfect records was never important to me. They say the devil is in the details, and that is why I stay away from details. I am a big picture person.

Welcome to your new addiction! I got started the same way last year. There are so many kind people here who just want to help you enjoy this hobby. Just remember to return the favor when you harvest your pods. There are always new people joining the forum who have no idea where to get seeds. I ordered off ebay before I ended up here. That's when I found out ebay is not reliable for pepper seeds. Luckily, there were some good people here who took care of me. It's a great feeling when your on the other side sending seeds to someone else. Tim

Damping off symptoms can be caused by any number of very common and ubiquitous fungal diseases. I'm a firm believer that the symptoms can be avoided. I've never had a problem with damping off....not in my greenhouses as a professional nor in my garage as a hobbyist. (Knock on wood) Careful attention to pre-season sanitation practices is very important. I spend a little time sanitizing my germination flats, the shelving, my tools, everything in the vicinity of my germination area. I germinate the seeds over heat, but grow on in pretty chilly conditions. I try to strike a balance between temperature, relative humidity, soil moisture, and light. Very nice camera! Of course the average hobbyist needs this about like the average commuter needs a top fuel dragster to get to and from work...maybe thats just the poor guy in me talking though...:)

If ever I decide to take my photography to the professional level, this is what I would want.

Funny story, i bought a photography mag a while back and they had some results from a contest in the previous issue. The second place was taken with that very camera, while the first place image was shot with a Sony H9 point and shoot cam...lol...

Guess it goes to show that the most important component of a camera is the eye attached to the viewfinder.

Ha ha. Exactly... but just think about how much fun the commute to work would be!

But, as I mentioned somewhere else, if you get a high powered camera, then you don't have anything to blame your bad shots on but you. ;) So, me, I stick with some less expensive models.

Lol, thats some good logic I suppose! :)

I speak strictly about needs...as far as wants go, sign me up...lol...and the drive to work would in fact be a blast...haha!

It is a very nice camera, most of the time this camera is just to "show" the client that they are a pro. It usually works, too.

I have visited a forums where a true hobbyist, amateur bought this camera and that person was asking for advice from others, man those Canon pro can be vicious, harsh and rude. The totally ripped into this girl because she had the audacity to buy a pro camera and wasn't a pro.

If you can actually afford it, why not buy?

I bet you are right joe. I'd be impressed if a photog I hired showed up with a Lambroghini of cameras like that one. My sister is a professional photog in Philly and is thinking about getting one.

But, as to "pros" being snobbish jerks... well, jerks are jerks whatever pretext they use to try to act all officious. Hope that amateur gal you mentioned saw through them.
