Nikon D40

Well, I purchased the Nikon D40w/kit lens 18-55mm and got 55m-200mm lens on top of it...Wanted to show a few I've gotten...still lotsa exploring...and quite unsure of self of what I'm doing (its on my part and not about cam)...

I did alot of Auto and couldn't take not shooting manual I sat down and made myself explore...I was just so excited before and didn't take the time to really look...Once I saw how it worked-that was it for me...HOOKED!

You know how it goes when something exhilariting is in the air...A storm brewing, heading for sunset, wind, clouds and all the elements of it coming...

Hi Jim. I have the same question so I hope you get some useful responses. I have a Canon Powershot SX100 with 8.0 mega pixels but I can't seem to find the proper setting for the kind of closeups that some of the people on this forum seem to get. Of course, it could be me as my vision is going from eye problems like macro degeneration or whatever that is. Part of the problem seems to be the symbols which are sooo tiny I can't make them out. Hopefully, someone out there knows the best way to get those shots. Murray

While Digatal SLR's do not have the same problems with camera shake as Point & shoot, it can still be an issue particularly at longer exposures. I have moved to Nikon VR lenses for that reason and I am quite happy. Mind you it will also depend on the kind of photography you are planning. I do a lot of macro using a 105 mm and bird photography using a 70-300 amongst others. Longer and heavier the lens the more valuable I have found the VR.
