We received a foot of snow today. I am wondering why drivers think that they can make left turns from the right lane and why they can run red lights in the snow. This afternoon, we had an accident (intentional) happen in part of our yard. We live in a cul-de-sac and between our house and the neighbors is a sidewalk that leads to a private park behind our house. Each year we both put Christmas lights on both sides of the walkway. An eighteen year old female new driver drove down our street very fast and decided that the walkway was a street. She ended up about 100 ft in the park. She didn't touch the neighbor's yard or lights, but wiped out all our lights and drove in our yard since the walkway was only about 3 ft wide. It is a good thing I wasn't home because I would have given her a piece of my mind. I did hear that another of our neighbors did yell at her a bit. The good thing is nobody got hurt and we can repair her damage easily. If she was my kid she would be cleaning it up. Tomorrow will be a better day. Happy holidays everyone!

Thanks for all your sweet comments, I struggle between wanting things to look a bit more "elegant" and loving the "cuteness" of the snowmen and gingers--so I end up with a mixture of both I'm afraid! LOL Sure not magazine worthy, but warm, cozy and happy for my little cottage home. I gave up on the real trees a couple years back, we get some strong Santa Ana winds out of the east here during the winter and it just dried out all the trees in the lots so much that they became a worry before time to take them down. My decorations include lots that have been gifted to me over the years, many ceramic and wooden ones that I've painted myself, and the beads and crystals that I've added since joining this forum. So like my house--it's a mixture of fun and fancy. LOL, so you noticed my canisters did you? I have flour, sugar, rice, teabags in them and they set on the counter year round. I didn't want to put them away because I use them while doing Christmas baking and candy making---soooo I just turned them around so the usual design was at the back and tied some bows on them! Swest2, my home is actually decorated in cranberry/maroon/reds and greens! My mom had the same colors and it stuck with me. It's the only colors I've ever had, isn't that strange? Even when we did the remodel and added on, I kept to those colors. While I do have white beadboard, I like my idea of the white crocks for the mantel, along with the twigs I sprayed white before Christmas. I've been meaning to ask you all. Do any of you keep those lighted branches in your house outside of holidays? I'm talking about the kind that would run on batteries and the lights are built into the branch or something like it. I've been considering one of those but wanted to see what other's thought also. I'd put it in a corner somewhere that needs light.
