Just to add to PG's comment. Another person asked about an Aralia they own (I believe theirs is also a 'Ming') and I gave some input based on my experiences with growing one. Here you go: "They enjoy humidity, so place them on a pebble tray (I didn't mist mine, didn't seem to mind just the humidity from the pebble tray). To keep them from getting leggy, bright light is suggested. I had mine about a foot away or so from a South window. It got afternoon sun with no problem. They don't like to be wet whatsoever (no houseplant wants to be wet though). You will want to allow it to dry out almost completely (don't let it dry out completely, but don't keep it as regularly moist as you would other houseplants that want to stay moist all the time). It might throw a diva fit and lose leaves, I think I read this can happen in the winter (maybe something to do with the change in the amount of sunlight). It will re-sprout again so it's not dead." It's better to not water on a schedule as that lady advised you, your conditions may me different than hers and you may need to water more or less often than she does. Syble...I have to tell you that I think your DH would like CB for their meals. Their food is like 'Home Cooked' meals. Not at all like FF Chainstore..I like that they will add something new each time we go. We started going to them when we traveled South, and I really looked forward to them. That's why I bought some last year and added some this year. Even though they are a little different in pattern, they will still work together. All the pieces, including the cups, were $3.99 ea..Except for the plates and the S&Ps which were $5.99 ea...and the Egg Cups - $.99 ea.. I think your DGdtr would love them... jane

marti- yeah, I feel that way most days. It takes me a few hrs for my meds to get in me for me to get moving around here anyway. I did get the 'fallen' shelf back up late yesterday - and half the shelf above it this morning. Instead of the long shelf (wall to wall) I used 2 smaller pieces I had here (the ends from when they cut my shelves to size) for the higher shelf - nothing else to use those for anyway. There'll be a few inches open between them but I won't have to fight another 5' long board either. I did one side, will probably put up the other side (half) shortly. After pup gets her walk. I'll save that long shelf board for the shelf I want put above the normal shelf (over the clothes rod) in that closet. Someone else will have to do that - it's way too high up for me to try. It's going to be a storage/linen closet. I did spend a good amount of time looking for the level. I looked in the back room twice for it. the 2nd trip there I 'saw' it. right out in open space waiting for me! eatrealfood - that'd sure be a good idea - a girl's shop class. I would have loved it. Learning to patch drywall, put up a shelf, fix a squeaky floor board, wire a lamp, etc would have been good things to learn back then.

Colleen, I know just what you are talking about. Elery's son visited last weekend from California, we hadn't seen he or his wife in 2 years, or their boys since last summer. I will also add that I don't have television other than those channels available via antenna, I think we get 7 channels. So, no one watched television but the first thing the boys asked about was the wifi password! Their parents didn't actually ask until a couple of hours later, LOL. Between touring the farm, driving the Mule, fishing in the ponds, paddling the boat, looking for frogs and generally visiting, the devices were used mostly in the evening. The adults visited while the boys did something with phones/tablets that did not involve the adults. However, the two oldest (16 and 14) were not happy to be dragged away from their electronic whatever to converse with adults. The result was that the only information we got about school, interests, camps, friends or life in general came from the parents, and we won't see the boys again for at least a year. The only thing that interested them more than electronics was the Mule, driving was a far greater attraction than anything provided via the internet, thank goodness. (that's a Kawasaki Mule, BTW, not a living creature, LOL) And my pet peeve is someone who needs to check their phone, their Facebook, their Twitter/Tweet/Insta-gratification/selfie page continuously while the other person sits there virtually alone. How in the world did we ever live before all this constant bombardment of social media was available to us and we had to wait to get home before we could use the phone? Annie
