I was wondering the same thing. I almost posted a couple of days ago to see if rcnaylor still has his team logo on his front porch, but figured that might be a tender subject.

Recntly I have been wondering the same thing...

Here is a picture of the moon I took a couple years ago with my Pentax K10d and my cheap $15 manual focus, manual apeture 500mm lens

thank you for your input! It's nice to know I'm still "alive." Last year I wrote a note on this forum called "stopped dating." I really thought I had lost interest, then I met someone but that went to hell in a handbasket very quickly ...the "I dont get it, what happened" entry on this forum I wrote about 6 months ago. It's interesting, looking back now, at the personal growth progress I've made since that first entry. That is not to say that starting to date again is necessarily a "great personal growth" but rather all that happened inbetween then and now. I am not a fan of hidden agendas either. life is interesting, and is even more interesting when one realizes it really has a purpose rather than to simply endure the mundane daily routines.

Ernie I am bad to the bone but do not tell any one. Wackyweeder I wish you were here working your weeding magic on my weeds. OH My. Ernie you have me pegged for loving purple. Turquoise too. Yes I am doing The mannequin Thelma and have a couple more in my attic/loft to do. And two more I already did. I am going to have a houseful of Mannequins. I had to have cataract surgery last summer so had to put Thelma aside while waiting for my eyes to settle down after surgery. In the mean time I worked on other projects that were not so visually demanding. And there Thelma sits waiting in my dinning room. With no table. LOL. I really need to finish some thing before going onto the next thing and I am winding things up now. I want to finish my hallway wall and making a gazillion grape leaves and also need to cut probably the same number of grape vine pieces. This is so boring. I am mounting the green leaf glass onto mirror bits. Nothing artistic about it just boring. I also need to compete the arbor sections to install on the wall then build my grape vine. Then get some sort of lighting and I hope to no longer have a long dark hallway. Then I will move back to Thelma. I need to lay her all the way across my worktable and cutting table and need to clear room to do this. I am sure when you are ready you will start on your mannequin. they are fo fun to do and develop such a personality. In the mean time hubby has cancer so I do not want to get too tied up in a project while needing to tend to him. There is just so much do to all the time. Holding down the fort. The out come will be grim. :'( Soldering on............. I am glad I have my art and animals to turn to.

I met my sister yesterday to get our toes done. I can't twist my body anymore to get a good aim at 'em. And when they're painted I can't tell as easily how fast the nails have grown. the girl there just couldn't believe how long they were. Mine grow fast - so do my fingernails - and my hair.! Guess I'll have to go there every 2 months or so whether I think it's time or not... We had a good time. her dh drove her and then ran errands while we were in there. Then we went across the road to have dinner. Nice new place (to me; they've eaten there a number of times). I got an Italian sandwich w/ side of pasta salad. It was getting late so I had to watch so it didn't get too dark for me. by the time I ate my pasta salad I decided I'd better leave, so got the sandwich to go. I should have left there 20-30 minutes sooner. was getter darker than I like out there to be driving. but I've got food for about 2 days from it. had a small corner of it after I got home and it was very good. i'm going to go down to W shortly to get the dog some cookies. ran out earlier. i'm out of the small ones that she gets after going outside to do her business... I could probably use some cookies too - will get mine from the subway counter - they usually have raspberry cookies there. went to my 3rd eye doctor on Friday. He showed me my eyeballs on the computer screen... the right looked like a blood moon. The left - total white 'full moon'. He said that the cataract causes the light to scatter and all it shows is white. he also told me that my iris is stuck to my pupil. Oh dear. that sounds messy... He told me that with the new technology in glasses, some people can adjust for a cataract with those glasses instead of surgery. But I wasn't one of those people... darn! I see the surgeon this Wednesday, so will ask him about the iris/pupil mess. Neither the retinal doc nor the surgeon mentioned that to me. glad you are doing ok Shades. you're lucky you aren't sore everywhere!

Hi Margee! I've been wondering that myself! I wish I knew the answer. I put out a roll call post a couple of years ago and got lots of replies, but still there is not as much activity as there used to be. That seems to be the case with a lot of the forum pages, not only the state centered ones, but the specialty plant forums as well; although it seems the rose forum is still pretty active. I really miss keeping up with the many friends I've made on here. We had a lot of fun with various games and funny posts! Some of the friends I've made here have became "in person friends" and we visit, chat, and trade plants all year. Now when many of us are more or less 'sheltering in place' it would seem a good time to revive the Texas Garden Web. So everybody whose reading this: post! Put pictures! Ask questions! I think it would help if more people who read posts would comment; even if just a few words. Sometimes we posters get the impression that no one is even reading what we put out there. By the way -- what variety IS that humongous rose bush??? :-)

Yep, I think unless you are a Cougar...or maybe a Bear, football has been a touchy subject around the state this year.:)

First, great shots guys. I'm never am very happy with my moon shots.

Second, photography is a much happier topic around here than college football!

My coach needs to recruit himself out of a problem because coaching out of it hasn't been working too well!

Yes..best shots are taken when the moon is like this, then you see the craters better...kind of half moon, full moon would be worse.
Looks like the last picture is enhanced in a program, sharpness, contrast etc.

I found one my wife made with Canon Powershot SX40 handheld, original, no Photoshopped. IMO, best camera for your money.

Konrad, I used the Canon Powershot SX 30 IS for the picture above. Your photo is much nicer, crisper.

I'll have to look into the Canon Powershot SX40, which I didn't know existed. It must be new.

Funny, I've never taken a photo of the moon. Odd now that I think about it.

I do have a photo of jupiter, nothing fancy at all. Was at the beach last summer with a clear night sky, saw Jupiter and snap snap snap.

Hand held, 190mm, f2.8, iso3200, 1/6 sec on the shutter. With the exception of cropping the image, no post-processing was done at all.

Nice...and three of Jupiter's moon's also! I tried taking a picture of Jupiter but I never got any decent ones.

Not sure, but that looks like a galaxy to the lower right of Jupiter.
