I think peeling would change the taste even if you didn't roast them since the peel restricts the absorbtion of any flavoring ingredients you added. Peeling is recommended in so many foods since it is the primary source of bacteria and contaminants that that may be part of the reason why it is also recommended in some canned pepper recipes. But all peppers freeze so great that preserving any of them is easy to do that way and doesn't limit your choices of which one to plant. Dave

Aspergersgamer, When I was growing up on a farm, we grew tomatoes in our garden and deadly nightshade was a fairly common weed in a nearby field. I was concerned at the time that bees might cross the two and produce tomatoes whose hybrid seeds might be toxic. None of us died from eating our tomatoes, but I certainly wouldn't deliberately cross the two. Ironically, there was a time over a hundred years ago when tomatoes themselves were thought to be poisonous. If memory serves, tomatoes were referred to as "love apples." MM

Registration is a voluntary thing. Though relatively easy, some people choose not to register. Some people are just secretive... some people have had negative experiences with the hosta registration people - like denying a particular name (Double D Cup comes to mind)... and I'm mystified by other peoples' reasons. Marco Fransen - the 'Paradise ...' guy and probably the most piviotal hosta person in Europe, does not register his releases. That's a lot of fine hostas not registered. Blue Lettuce is a Zilis / Q&Z release... they grew a bunch of seedlings from a Gold Regal x Blue Vision cross and this is one they liked. Registration can take a while and in today's market hostas are often put into production before anyone has actually grown the plant to maturity and properly observed size and flowering attributes. It may be Q&Z may get around to registering Blue Lettuce at some point... send them an email and you'll probably get a note back from MaryBeth Vanous (Mark's sister) - come back and share what you learn!

I would not use "Landscape Fabric" under the box (or around it for that matter). Reason is that fabric does NOT decompose, roots will penetrate (somewhat) and the fabric will get torn into many, many pieces which will remain for eternity. I prefer using either cardboard or sheets of newspaper which will decompose after it has served its purpose. Outside of the beds use your choice of mulch - again I prefer something that will decompose over time.
