Nigella is very popular with the camermen!! Have you noticed how they focus on her chest? LOL Men like her for this reason as well. She's very down-to-earth and friendly. She's often on the Today Show. Speaking of chests.......wow Giada!

While doing some genealogy research, I discovered that Nigella is a distant cousin of mine. My great-great-grandparents are her great-great-great grandparents. She obviously takes after the black-haired side of the family.

Ruthie, my grandmother always made cornbread in the waffle maker. I used to, back in the 60s and 70s, but at some point I put the waffle maker away and never got it out again. I used my regular corn bread recipe that came from the back of the corn meal bag.

Have you noticed the popularity of chicken and waffles?

New restaurant, center city, that caters to hot wings, fish, also advertises chicken and waffles. I soooooo would like to try that.

Linda it's so funny to me...I am a born and bred southern girtl, born in Tupelo MS and raised in Arkansas but lived in SC, LA, Fl, and GA and visited every one of the "southern" states and I never heard of making cornbread waffles. I'm getting out my waffle maker..It's handy cause we make waffles from time to time. The batter she used would be about the same as the batter when you buy that little cornbread mix that is a little sweet...can't remember the brand but I'm sure most people know what I am referring to...It was a basic cornbread mix with a little sugar and it had some flour in it. I never put flour in my cornmeal but I would for the waffle....It looked so good...she put it on a plate and put the chili on top of it...topped it with sour cream and cheese.

What would you serve with cornbread waffles?

Here's one that looks interesting.

CORNBREAD WAFFLES

1 1/2 cups cornmeal
1/2 cup flour (all purpose or cake flour)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/2 cups frozen white shoepeg corn, thawed

Stir together first 5 ingredients in a large bowl.
Beat eggs, gradually adding sugar until light and frothy. Stir baking soda into buttermilk. Combine all ingredients and stir just until it comes together, some lumps will remain.

Pour onto preheated seasoned waffle iron, filling 3/4 full and bake until steaming begins to stop.

Don't know Nigella very well...

With Paula, she always adds that 'extra' something to her meals... it's called saliva! She irks me to no end with her poor cooking habits, licking fingers, double-dipping... just nasty. Wouldn't go eat at her home... Who knows what she does in the privacy of her own kitchen. YUK!

I like Nigella's easy style. She's precise yet calm, similar to Ina Garten.

I'd serve cornbread waffles with grape jelly and maple syrup. I'm not a fan of chilli.

I love Nigella, years ago, she was on GMA and made a Chocolate Cloud. I've made that dessert so many times I don't even have to get out the recipe card.

I don't really like Paula Deen either...I hate the way she portrays the southern woman. Many people will look at her (idiot acting) ways and think that all southern women act and talk like her. orie I think the same thing especially when I see food on her chin or coming out the corner of her mouth.

Glenda I think I saw on the food network a show about the waffles and fried chicken...seems like a restaurant that stayed open late for the late night crowd invented the chicken and waffle meal. Their two big meals that people ordered were waffles or fried chicken after a night out and lots of partying (drinking. Gladys Knight and Ron Winans have a place in Atlanta but I don't think they were the original ...I'll have to check that out.

we used to make them all the time, just used bisquick and added some cornmeal and canned corn...

Here is a history of the waffles and fried chicken...Interesting it started in Harlem...I would have sworn that I heard or read Atlanta but I guess that is because of the Knight/Winan connection.

Nigella is my favorite..I love her writing style and her cookbooks..she's frank and so unformal! She's quite "cultured" and has travelled and experienced alot.

And I ADORE her figure..You can't help but notice her chest..but you've NEVER seen cleavage!

When my kids were growing up I made cornmeal pancakes and cornmeal waffles all the time, but the recipes weren't the same as traditional cornbread. These days, my granddaughter likes the cornmeal pancakes corn added.

I'll have to look at one of Nigella's cookbooks to see if our writing styles are similar. That would be cool!

I make cornbread waffle like thingees in my George Forman grill. I use the cornbread mix from Trader Joe's. It's the best I've ever tasted. I like it with corned beef hash on the side.

I don't believe I've ever had cornbread. It's not a dessert type food, is it?

Glenda, my youngest was introduced to chicken and waffles by his college classmates when he visited them in Los Angeles at school breaks. They took him to Roscoes, and now when he goes up to LA to see them, they always have to go to Roscoes for chicken and waffles. He says they are yummy!

I'm not fond of cornbread in any manner. I LOVE Nigella, pleasing to watch, soothing voice & explains her techniques simply.I am getting tired of Paula and as much as I like Ina's dishes she prepares-her laugh drives me crazy! At the end of the show when she sits down w/her company or DH & they are eating..she has this hideous laugh thru the meal-nothing can be that funny through a whole meal.
