Helen I think you're right about my mystery flowers being Spring Beauty. Thank you! If I planted that, I've forgotten. I planted Jane five years ago and I'd guess that it's 6 to 8 feet tall now and still not blooming heavy enough to call it showy. It gets some competition from a Tulip tree so it might be doing better by now if it was planted in a better spot. I'm ashamed - I finally broke down and bought the Canon that has a 50x zoom lol. I got a good deal on it. Best Buy matches some dot com prices now. Amazon is one and they had the lowest price so I showed them that price at the register at Best Buy and they matched it. I also had reward zone bucks to take off of the price plus another 20 for applying for a BB charge card back before Christmas so it got the price down to 340. That's more than I intended to spend but I still had some Santa cash and I "needed" a good camera. : ) It seems to be working great for macro or zooming either one, but if the camera is zoomed all the way out, it's difficult to keep the subject centered. If you move the camera even a little, you've lost sight of it. I haven't messed around with macro much yet but this one is of buds on my Mohawk viburnum and the lens was very close. I need to try it out on some bugs or butterflies.

I find it interesting you have searched for a three year old thread in order to post your comment. There is some elemement of a scare tactic in tagging and shutting down a furnace. The contractor does want you to buy a new furnace from him. But the dangers of a cracked heat exchanger are very real. There is a legal liability that an HVAC contractor shut down a furnace which show signs of being dangerous. There thousands of furnaces in use at this moment that have cracks and the homeowners don't know it. These furnaces continue to operate until they eventually fail for some other reason. This is not a reason to ignore the issue. Heat exchangers crack due to excessive heat. This could be caused by not changing the filter or poor installation. There is a high heat limit switch that will shut down the furnace, but it does not guarantee it will prevent the heat exchanger from cracking. There is no detector which can signal a crack in metal. I suppose a carbon monoxide detector could be built into the furnace. The detector would probably have many false positive readings as the furnace cycled on and off. If an HVAC technician says you have a cracked heat exchanger, then get a second opinion if you doubt his findings. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Exception, my rugosa (Fru Dagmar) is blooming all over--for the first time in her sojourn in my garden. I hope to get a good picture later today when the light isn't so intense out there. Yes, I think I will really appreciate Sailor Sky since it is a late, and I don't have a lot of lates, and several I do have don't bloom well or long.I really need more very lates, but I don't want more yellows or orange, and it seems so many very lates are that. I wonder if your Tall Dark Stranger will be purple for you, Celeste. I would probably like mine if it were more purple than red, you know how I love purples. I told you Bird Talk has scapes. Well my visiting grand-dog barrelled through it, and literally chopped off one of the fans. I thought at first a deer had come through and chomped, but the foliage and bloom is lying on the ground. Last year I could not find the tag on either of them. Tags always mysteriously disappear for me. I struggled with them last year because they looked very much alike and I could not tell from pictures. This year they look different. Isn't it funny how the bright colors seem to be very vigorous growers and bloomers? Brave World has done well here for the last 2 years after I threatened it. Debra, I forgot to bring your attention to Lavender Stardust after you mentioned Motown Blues looked like it. Here Lavender Stardust, at least this year, is closer to the color of Hush Little Baby than Motown Blues, at least the Motown Blues you saw. I thought I had taken a picture of Lavender Stardus, but can't find it now.
