I am a bit like yourself glaswegian Not always on the garden web forum but like to keep in touch some I remember seeing you on the Brugmansia Forum. To bad you could not bring plants from your garden I was fortunate on the occasion of my last move that I was able to bring quite a bit along But I found as well, that the plant sales of different horticultural groups and various fundraising plant sales found me with lots of inexpensive basic plants. Kind of nice isn't it to have a blank canvas. With your expertise in no time at all you will have marvellous gardens. Hope you are going to stay put for awhile Moving for sure is not just simple. There is a grower of Brugmansia in Quebec that my youngest daughter ordered plants from, but is to late I expect for this year You might even be able to simply drive to the Brugmansia grower in Quebec. Will look up the name of it if you are interested All the best

Fran - The 1st plant could be a large number of different cultivars as there are probably more japanese types of 'pinks' than any other color... Ipomoea nil with dwarf type genes can cross with many other I.nil and anything is possible... The 'Blue Silk' can sometimes throw a plant that progressively develops a purple-lavender and until I get (and translate) the japanese romaji name for it I have been calling it Lavender Silk http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/176115/ The lavender may take several generations to stabilize into a definite purple-lavender and intermediate colorations that are 'sort of' still blue and lavender are what occurs in the interim... The pinkish bloom can also come out of the blue silk and I've been referring to it as 'pink silk',although there is a definite romaji name for it that I need to re-locate and translate... The stigma and anthers on your almost lavender silk are very dark and this is characteristic of premature senescence...when either the anthers and / or the stigma prematurely senesce they will not function to produce pollen or seeds...this reproductive part dysfunction is the result of being highly bred...there is no 'cure' and you just have to be sure that any flowers that produce good pollen producing anthers and / or a good looking functional stigma are hand pollinated to insure seed production... TTY,... Ron

ram is one of the easiest things to upgrade on a pc, most people can tackle this task. I usually buy my ram from newegg.com they have all the name brands and great prices, I have Kingston in most of my computers. How to Install RAM to a Desktop Computer be sure to ground yourself you can use a grounding arm band which you can buy anyplace you buy ram, always a neat thing to have handy if you ever want to do anything inside the pc including cleaning it. Also you want to be sure you put the ram stick in the right direction, do not force it, it will go in easily the right way, it should click in and the locking arms on the ends of the slot will lock shut, make sure they do that. I do unplug mine from the power also. How to Add RAM to a Computer : How to Install RAM How to Install RAM there are some good tutorials with video while the case is open it is a good time to clean out dust bunnies. Wall color is really hard to say without seeing it, but my inclination would be to put more brown into the wall color. I like light and reflective backsplashes (comes from years of dark under counter spaces with no lights, I'm sure, but why not take advantage of natural lighting even if you can supplement it?). I would not do all cream though. With the light cabinets and mostly light granite, I would want some color without too much competition with the granite. Again, without seeing it, I would be thinking of starting my search with some coppery/bronze tones (metallic or glass) either as accents or possible the whole thing (especially with glass -- if you like that look). You seem to have something simple in mind, and I think that is good. Don't do the random accents, mosaics or such that can get busy or spotty looking and compete with the granite. I had a hard time finding something simple but not too plain to go with my marble. Don't be afraid to think outside the box or search for different combinations. I wound up combining subways from one dealer with accent pieces I found at two different stores. I have two pencil liners on either side of a third (color bordering metallic). It came about after getting sample pieces of a number of different accents and sitting on the floor laying them out to compare and then starting to combine different options. If you aren't finding what you want, see if you can create it.
