Is that really new? The first time I recall seeing something I'd like in a new kitchen if I ever got one was when I saw a big, beautiful blue Viking range - pretty much like the one in that photo - only bigger. I guess that wasn't a trend - just an uncommon option. I do think colored appliances will be back soon - has to be something different to come along after the overabundance of stainless - what else is there that we haven't had in a long time?

We bought our first house in 1970 - a contemporary, just north of NYC. It was 6 years old and had been the model home for that model in the development. It had orange countertops! Copper appliances!! A built-in breakfast table that matched the countertops, flanked by tall amber windows. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. When we moved out 6 years later, I never wanted to see the color orange again . . . to this day, I couldn't buy Rachel Ray's cookware because of the orange.

That red hood, however, was cool! But I learned my lesson with the orange kitchen . . . I'll put the red somewhere other than appliances in the kitchen . . . where a coat of paint will make it easy to change my mind.

I guess my Bertazzoni range in "vino" is a trend. Rats, I hate being trendy.

I could never do that, but I can see myself admiring it in someone elses house.

The new rubbed bronze appliances are gorgeous though. You need something other than wood tone cabinets IMO. I saw them at a local appliance store, and oh WOW! They are much prettier in person.
