Yeah, ummmm. . . we can't afford them. . .lol

We just moved into our house and would love to redo the kitchen in the next 2 years or so. I think it would be pointless to install them now and rip them out later. . . Plus we can't afford them now. . .lol All our money is sitting at our warehouse in about 50 slabs and about 40 on the way. Welcome to the first year of business.

Oh, I am sooo jealous. That's an amazing butcher block. Brings back memories of this butcher shop I used to frequent. Theirs was so well used it and all kinds of bowls and grooves.

My wife spent a year living in China, and said this is a typical for plant stand she saw over there, I think? We found it here in florida at a yard sale and it brought back memories. Maybe she'll explain it better if she see's this post.

I wish that I took one of those slabs off of your hands, Joshua. It was one of the hardest decisions that I ever made. Truthfully, my granite decision was a mistake, and it's one that I will have to live with. I wanted to keep my cabinets, and I was sure that they wouldn't have done the soapstone justice. I was right, but it turns out it's the same for the granite. We will have to do something anyway. The granite is growing on me, but the one thing that I didn't think about, but remember now that I read it here, is the glare factor on the granite. I have trouble seeing, (40+ year old eyes) so I have to put on the undercabinet lights. When I put on the lights, they shine into my eyes. Vicious circle and one of the benefits of soapstone. Also the water factor. Evaporates on soapstone, leaves spots on granite.

Sorry to highjack your thread, but the tie in was I wish that I had helped you get your kitchen earlier...and I mean it. Truthfully, Joshua and Mimi didn't push me and said that they just wanted me to be happy. Now I wish they had been more high pressure!!! Show this to someone who is on the fence!

Hi florida joshua, I will most definitely take one of those slabs off you in the future, I live in Florida...DonÂt know when this will happen though, after teen gets a used car, after trip to London this summer after I win the lottery. I know you will love using your meat block. I have had one for a few months now and get so many compliments when people come over, its also very handy to put locking wheels on as it can go anywhere in the house during parties and transport dishes from the dishwasher to cabinets in a flash.

terible, such a cool idea. I think I'll have to fix the legs as they are a bit loose before I do something like that. It will also bring the block up to counter height so I may just incorperate it into my future kitchen. Of course loosely so I can take it with me when I move into my forever home. . .

Kristenfl, mistakes rarely happen only life lessons so we become more refined as people. I have seen your kitchen in pics and I'm sure your counters look awsome. You could have gone alot of different ways. One thing we all have the same amount of is time, give it time to settle I'm sure you won't feel this way soon. Every counter has it's own set of rules to abide by, you will get used to yours soon enough. I just wish I could get used to not setting hot things on my corian. . .lol

Oh and before mimi came back from china I flew over there and we traveled around for about 3 weeks, she said it was the first time she didn't get sick of anyone for that long, six months later we eloped in Mexico.
