Do you think this chair is worth saving?

I am really kind of embaressed(spell??) to post photos of this chair!

It was my great grandmothers. It has been in storage for a very long time - hence the stains (I hope) My mom thought she had the missing leg - nope it's MIA.

So, it would need a new leg and refinished with new upholstery. It is a great size for a bedroom, thou.

Thanks for any advice. Be honest, if you think it is too yucky or not worth the expense. I guess I wouldn't mind the expense b/c of where it came from. So, did I just answer my own question???????

Yes, you did. The next step I'd take were it mine would be to find couple a good upholstery furniture repair shops and get their opinions. It's a beautiful chair. Good luck!

I have no idea, but it does have a sweet shape and would make a nice bedroom chair, as you say. Especially nice to have something from your great grandmother too.

My system warranty was 10 year parts from mfg. I bought an Equigard labor warranty, years 2 through 10 for $400 (may have been 410 or 420. I think your contractor is trying to reduce his cost. I believe that if you develop a leak after the contractor's warranty expires, the cost of refrigerant is not covered. PROs can comment on that. $120 a year for 2 visits is very reasonable. I would be more concerned as to what the tech will do during the visit. I'm paying double that. The tech was here about 2 hours, but I'm not all that happy with the service. May be looking to switch after initial warranty period expires. V

I do like the cider brined pork roast, but I never let it sit overnight, and I only use my own pork, the commercial stuff is nearly always already full of "flavor enhancers". I tried brining the turkey/chicken/pork etc. and just didn't care much for it and I seldom marinate beef either. I guess I just like the flavor of the meat itself, without adding anything. Plus brine just seems to add too much salt for my liking, I can taste the salt over everything else. Sorry about your pork loin, though, that type of experience is why I seldom buy prepared foods. I'm picky and I usually just don't like them. I don't think I've ever eaten any product at all from Smithfield, so maybe they just aren't good, as Beverly doesn't like their ham either. Annie

The condition looks very good, because it seems to be a new piece, not old. It looks sort of like the type of furniture that Bombay Co used to sell. A vintage desk would have the leather on the interior writing surface, not as decoration on the outside front. I'd offer no more than $100.

I like them and would of given $10 bucks each at a garage sale. I just had one over the weekend with mostly good stuff full of collectables and memorabilia and it was like fish for walleye but only catching bullheads. Would you Care to trade a Lou Holtz and 2 Jessie Ventura dolls (nib) for those planes?

What a lovely chair! I can't wait to see it with a pretty new fabric. Would look lovely in a pretty velvet.

I'd do whatever I could afford to save the chair because of the family history. Imagine being able to pass it on with its history to future family generations!

Absolutely. First of all, it's got gorgeous lines. Second, it's a family heirloom. I'm guessing you could get it reconditioned and reupholstered for $500-600, tops. If it were my chair, I would definitely do it, even if I had to save up for several months to make it happen. I love it!

I love the shape and the legs. Its dainty looking and perfect for a bedroom.

An heirloom too. It has everything making it a keeper.

I agree with the others - definitley worth saving. It is going to look great in a beautiful new fabric. Perfect for a bedroom and hopefully you can pass it down too - so much history! Enjoy it - and have fun picking a fabric!
