Need advice on painting exterior concrete wall

Hi everybody,

We are re-doing landscaping in the back yard -- there are a couple of concrete walls (below grade) attached to the house (actually it is a walk out basement) -- concrete walls serve as retaining walls so there is no doubt water sipping through these walls (there are barely noticeable hairline cracks here and there). These walls are about 12 years old and in pretty good shape.

We want to paint these walls the same color as the house (egshell, light beige) or at least something close to it -- I've read about some options, but sure which one would serve us best. We narrowed it down to 3 options: staining or painting with masonry waterproofer.

1. Acid stains seem to be the best from low maintenance point of view, but there is not much of a choice of color, plus they don't give "solid" color.

2. Acrylic stains seem to have good color choice, but are they going to hold (not bubble) due to sipping water and elements.

3. Masonry waterproofer (drylok) also has good color selection but the same concerns apply as in acrylic stains.

We are located in Colorado (just south of Denver) so these walls will be subject to pretty extreme elements as far as temperature fluctuations and sun UV. We would like it to hold at least 10 years before it has to be re-painted or re-stained.

Would appreciate any advice,

TIA, Davie.
