Sherwin Williams 400 or 200 interior line for home?
Comments (54)Where cheating on primer really shows up, is if someday you decided to hang wallpaper. The drying of the wallpaper paste will literally pull the paint off the drywall. I have run across this "self priming" paint when hanging wallpaper. I would put a pre-paper sealer on the walls first, and then hang the paper. All done quite "kosher" and according to accepted practices. A couple days later the customer would call and complain that the seams were lifting. Sure enough, the seams are coming up and the paint is stuck to the back of the wallpaper,. leaving bare drywall paper showing on the wall! Obviously, the paint was not bonded to the wall! I know of no way to correct this problem, other to remove the wallpaper and advise the customer not to hang more wallpaper. So long as only paint is used, the bonding situation does not seem to be aggravated....See MoreHas anyone used Sherwin-Williams "favourite jeans" colour paint?
Comments (7)I got two emails after I posted this asking what is the difference is between undertones and overtones. I focused on answering OP's question here, but I also posted the colorography on Instagram with this comment. Hope it helps. Sherwin-Williams Favorite Jeans SW9147 is a great example of how a color notation can give you a heads-up on potential color overtones. You know the difference between overtone and undertone, right? Overtone - Derived from an objective color measurement. Can be plotted and illustrated on a color wheel. Overtone is the secondary color that makes a color look the way it does. Answers the question, Which way clockwise or counter clockwise from the fundamental hue parent does a color lean when plotted on a color wheel? Overtone synonym: hue bias. Undertone - Subjective description of a personal color experience. Not measurable, can't be consistently illustrated on a color wheel. Undertone is the color revealed when a medium, like artist's paints or printer's ink, is spread thinly so light filters all the way to the substrate and bounces back up through the thin film of color....See MoreWho has used Sherwin Williams City Loft?
Comments (5)You do know that the color will need to be tested in your space with all your stuff and lighting. All the pics from someone elses space mean nothing . Get a poster board or 2 and sample pots of the 2 colors you like paint the boards with 2 coats each then move those boards around in all the spaces you want to pint and see how they look. I always suggest cahnging all the lighting to LED 4000K to make sure the colors at least stay true at night when you have only artifical lighting....See MoreAnyone use Kem Aqua Plus from Sherwin Williams?
Comments (5)I like Kem-Aqua plus pretty well. It is beginner friendly and easy to work with. It is comparable to a lacquer level finish without the problems that lacquers have. With proper equipment and setup, you will not need to thin the product and cleanup is easy. It can orange peel if your gun is setup poorly so spray a decent amount of cardboard first. The white is super-white and you will not match it with any other coating, so if that is a concern, get some tint (it has to be tinted at a distribution center). ---- I have airless, air-assisted airless, and HVLP sprayers (actually multiples of the first and third). I will put a $500 Fuji Spray with a devilbiss gun against any airless sprayer and crush it every time. My go-to spraying setup for wood is a Devilbiss finishline spray gun and a Fuji Spray Q5 platinum. But I also have a Fuji Spray Semi-pro 2 and it is a great sprayer for the money. If you are spraying off a compressor, I highly recommend upgrading to a turbine sprayer. The Semi-pro sells new for $460 and you can sell it used for $400. Well worth the small investment. --- This is not taking anything away from 2k poly... a good Italian 2k poly is great if you can get one. I am underwhelmed by the development of some US versions that make no attempt to move away from isocyanates....See Morepaintguy22
