for some reason, I'm liking the smaller ones. Almost always, I like larger format glass tiles but in this case... and I can't expalin why, I like the 1x1's. Very pretty choices!!

I like the smaller too. The colors go beautifully. The granite is gorgeous. I too am having a busy granite installed next week, Mascarello and went with plain turkish traventine in a smooth pearl for the backsplash.

Your kitchen is going to look stunning. Wish you a smooth installation.

Thanks remodelfla, I really like them too but worried if they were maybe too busy but then thought they would look good since the tiles will be going up to the ceiling around the stainless steel hood vent. Making more of a statement?

I also love the larger tiles but wonder if they would be too plain or perhaps that is better with the busy patterned granite.

Shelly's granite is Giallo Ornamental, which is not as busy which helps pull off her backsplash. I've thought of using another granite but have my heart set on the Delicatus, lol

KA, I love your granite it was what made me fall in love, so thank you. And your thoughts are what I worry about with the small ones, it's so hard to picture the final product.

The builder has asked for what we are using but I can wait till after install if needed to decide.

Personally, I like the larger ones, simpler. However your inspirational photo of shelly's kitchen makes me think you'll like the smaller ones.

Hi la_jan, the photo of Shelly's kitchen I added mostly to show the cabinets and the layout of the backsplash as ours are very similar.

I do love her backsplash but am unable to do the same kind due to the busy granite I've chosen. I love the look of both the tiles, at this point after making so many decisions in this house building process my mind is so indecisive, lol

With the glass tiles being all one color I was thinking maybe the 1x1s might not be too busy, or the larger ones maybe too plain. Maybe I'm trying to make the 1x1s work since they are way less expensive, isn't that crazy?

Just want to add to KA, I understand her love for Delicatus. I've spent hours just staring into and touching my small little sample of it, can't imagine I'll get much done after I have a whole houseful of counters with it. ;)

I have to chime in...I have delicatus too and I am struggling with my backsplash choice as well...I originally wanted to do glass but Im finding the matte ceramics are a nice contrast. I also was looking at the smaller ones but I think we are going to go with a subway. This way, the backsplash doesn't compete with the busy granite.

Thanks newchapter for your suggestion on the matte tiles. I will pick some out and see how they work. Please posts photos as I would love to see yours when your done. Thanks :)

Hi xc60, the matte tiles Ive been looking at are ann sacks, but I think they are actually made by heath ceramics. Someone else on the board has it...I think its redroze.

We have Delicatus granite with walnut shaker style cabinets. We were originally going with a white subway tile for the backsplash but after bringing home many samples we went with a 1/2" x 12" glass tile in a stacked pattern (not staggered). The color is called white but it actually looks faintly aqua because of the iron content in the glass. I love it! I wanted a modern look and this tile helped pull it in that direction. Good luck!

Hi, I'm in the same boat as you, trying to pick a backsplash to complement busy granite choices (my island choice is similar to delicatus, called blue lagoon, and on the permiter will be a dark chocolate called marron cohiba) . During my searching on houzz I found this:

Altho the cabs are cream against the tile, maybe this will give you a view of a different size? Your glass tile choices are beautiful!

I'm eyeing a walker zanger 'helsinki' marble/stone ( that actually looks lighter/creamier) than this photo shows:

Bellacucina those backsplashes are amazing! I can see why you like the walker zanger, it's beautiful.
