Those white painted rocks in the pics above make the house look like its made of marshmallow fluff! Not a good look. OP, Im willing to bet that those rocks are on the front only, am I right? Usually I argue in favor of saving original house parts but i have to say, the 50s thing for attaching fake rocks or brick veneer to the front only (like we cant see the sides??) is really annoying. Take it off! (Be sure to post after pics). Glad the tree is staying. Its not that close, and looks to be in good shape - a good tree adds value to a house. When the time comes redoing your front beds and adding a snazzy new door will add much more appeal.

For sure, the house is not ugly. You may not like the brick, but it’s not ugly. Romabio is recommended for brick but if looking for general guidelines, you need a mineral paint for brick. A lime wash is also an option. I’d go with a cream color for the brick and Urbane Bronze for trim, or accent colors. Classic wooden stained door. It will all look very clean, classic and stylish. Update any lights and make sure they are the right size. The columns appear a bit puny, but probably not enough to do anything about. I like their taper. You’ll get the biggest bang for your buck with new landscaping. Please don’t trim shrubs into balls, globes, trapezoids.. Plant arching shrubs such as nine bark (arching growth habits are SO elegant, lovely and natural looking). I’ve just ordered a Little Quick Fire hydrangea: it blooms all the time with flowers that are white and dusty pink. It’s also the kind of plant I picture for southern regions. Have no idea if you get a true autumn down there but shrubs with fall color would be great. Keep your landscaping simple but interesting.

Thanks for the input! Rachel G - I have never heard of Romabio but it looks like a solid brand. Do you have any input on the color from Romabio? I live in northern climate, so I prefer not white since snow is on the ground for 4-5 months. Also any input on shutters or trim color?? Patricia - So you would paint the siding a dark brown? Wouldn’t that antiquate the house? And what trim and front door color would you put with that?

Agree with the comments above. I like a brick ranch home like your home :) If I were in your shoes I would remove the chain link fence (per worthy's comment) or have it "painted" black so it disappears. Not install shutters or remove them if you have them already on your home. I can't really tell from the posted pic if they are there or not - I actually don't see them but the pic is dark. Landscaping is huge. it makes all the difference in the world as to how your home is presented to you and others, Take time to find a good landscape designer, check houzz, to work with you. BTW, landscape design also includes hardscape (driveways and walkways). Nice home.
