Well, sometimes you can't blame people totally. (Although dumping them in the woods or out in the country isn't smart!) We had a stray show up at our home in the suburbs- she is sweet, but my husband won't let her stay because she destroys our gardens. We tried every type of barrier and deterrant that we can afford, but the cat is very stubborn and will even poop over a chicken wire barrier. We can't adopt her as an indoor cat because our current indoor cat of 6 years would not tollerate it. Faced with this problem and not wanting to take it to the pound where after only 5 days they are euthanized, I set out contacting EVERY shelter and cat organization within 50 miles. Guess what? All are full! Even the cat adoption program has a 4 month waiting list. Apparently it's kitten season, so nobody wants adult cats- they end up on the chopping block! So what are we supposed to do? I tried putting ads in the paper for adoption, asking everyone I know- no luck finding a home for the cat. So, here's what we did: I took her in, spent $70 having her spayed and shots. Then, once she was fully healed, we drove her to a quiet suburban neighborhood and dropped her off. Why? Well for one, we figure SOMEONE will take her in- most people we know aquired their cat as a stray. Someone who does not already have an indoor cat can take her in and have her as an inside cat. Either that, or they will call animal control and the cat will be taken to the pound. At LEAST she has a 50/50 chance! No way will she starve to death in a neighborhood full of people- she'll do just what she did when she came to our home...she'll show up at the doorstep, and the people will either take her in or call animal contol. So, sometimes it's the only option, unless you think taking them straight to the pound where they'll be killed is better than at least giving them the chance for adoption.

It must be really hot over there in Portugal right now. It sure is here. I am glad you got to go on holiday to Scotland again. I envy you that. Many thanks to all of you for dropping by to check on dear little Puppy. Woody, I wormed all the dogs for Hookworms,including Puppy, and then vaccinated the other dogs for Parvo the day I found out what she had. The vet had already given her her puppy shots, but alas it was too late for her, poor baby. The vet sent home the Parvo shots for me to do the others myself. I cleaned everything with bleach, floors, and washables and used Clorox 2 for the colored things. Her toys and all were cleaned. No signs of it so far. She will be coming out this way soon to check on other people's farm animals, and will drop by here to check my dogs for heartworms and give them their other vaccinations, and as many of the cats as we can catch. :) they are afraid of strangers. One of the nice things about living in farm country and finding a good vet who is willing to do that just to save my animals and save us some money to boot. Thanks for asking. ~Annie

I wonder if you will see this 5 years later. My cat who is 3yrs old has been doing the same exact thing as you mentioned. I googled it and found your post. Ironically it is also with Fancy Feast. Salmon and Shrimp... Her and her sister eat dry food maining but I give them FFeast here and there. She usually devours it but the last few times she meows for it, dives in to the plate, eats a little then darts away from the plate like something scared her. Then she runs around the house like she just ate a bag of cat nip dives into a box and starts to claw it to shreds. When I call to her and say it's ok, whats wrong she starts to lick herself and clams down. A few minutes later she will go back and finish it... She eats dry food with no issues so I dont think it's her teeth.. They are both indoor cats. It is almost like she gets wild because it's fish? Like a hunt feeling.. I read all of these comments and I will have her teeth checked. But wanting to ask if you ever determined the issue? Did it stop? Was it her teeth? I am going to try a different can of wet food, see if she does it with that as well. It was just very interesting that your story is so similar even down to the type and flavor of cat food...

Yes, Toffee is a sweetie...he's the perfect dog. Sometimes too smart isn't the best..and he's not the smartest dog you'll ever see...while my female is uber smart. I give my dogs choices, and they pick what they want to do. My female, Jellybean, once found someone's keys in the field and on another occasion brought a puppy back to its owners. I tried to train her as a service dog for me for my mobility...she could do everything, but she was afraid of escalators. She was two at the time and had never seen one. She would turn me left or right on command. She was awesome. She can get me anything I want...tissue, remote control, socks from the pile of clothes, my shoes, anything I drop, etc. She's very smart! I agree with you!!! I love, love, love Chartreuse de Parme!! I am so glad I got it!!! However, Radox Bouquet (one of my new roses this year) has the best fragrance ever!!!
