Have you ever won money by entering a contest/raffle? I did

once on a 50/50 Christmas raffle a friend and I split... $300.00 each.

Yes, I once won a stupid shotgun in a raffle. Of all the really nice prizes listed, I won that gun. I sold it to the local hardware store. Dottie

I've won the 50/50 raffle several times. I gave the money back to charity.

I am sorry to say that the raffle had to be called off because of 'pay pal'. They say it is gambling and we can't use them for our money ! Mary the BGI treasurer is going to return the money to those that had already paid. I am very sorry. Maybe I can work something else out in the near future. Thanks to those that supported BGI !

When I was in college I won a makeover and a Butte Knit suit of my choosing from a dept. store. I had the makeover and haircut and got to keep my choice of make-up line. I chose Clinique and when I picked out the suit I just got the most expensive one they had; they were so matronly and I was 20. Just under 200$ for the suit and I returned it to the same store different town on my way back to school and kept the cash :) I bought a killer leather jacket wish I still had that...Of course the Butte Knits are kinda vintage now. In recent years I've won a microwave and a pair of really decent riding boots.

Nope, never. I buy raffles all the time for charity, never won a thing. My SIL is always winning free stuff- she once won a free trip to Orlando Florida and offered to take me along. I couldn't go because my babies were still little, in fact I was still nursing the youngest. She also used to win door prizes.

I won a Superbowl pool a couple of times, does that count? Otherwise, I'm sadly lacking in the luck department. Now, my friend Mary is another story. I think she wins just by walking by the booth where a raffle is being held! LOL!

Raffles/lotteries, etc--never.

Contests? Absolutely. I'd have to check, but I believe my total is up to about $60,000 for recipe contests ($25,000 of that for ONE recipe that took me 10 minutes to create in my head, that I didn't bother to test, just sent it in).

I think you have a much better shot at winning when you enter skill contests, in a field where you have experience or talent. And I NEVER enter contests where you have to pay to compete. There are plenty of free contests available to all.

Some of the things that I have won are a giant stuffed panda(when my kids were little) a freezer ready side of beef, a john boat, and a tv.

I won a little black and white television way back in 1960. One time I entered each of the kids names in a contest that I picked up at the drug store. One of them one a thousand dollars from it. I can't think of anything else.

Not money...but I won a book in an internet sweepstakes and a few small items from sweepstakes....and I do mean small...like a keychain! My mother won a donkey when I was a kid...he was the door prize at a horse show. That made me happy!

I got 5 out of 6 numbers in a Texas Lottery back in the 90's I won about $1700, had to pay income tax on it

My parents won $5000 when our state lottery was new. It came in handy-Dad was unemployed at the time. I was very excited. They gave me $100 cash as my share!

Not money, but tiny diamonds, 3 different time by being the X number caller on a radio program, long years ago. They are still somewhere in my jewelry box.

Also won a 13 inch color, cable ready TV in a drawing at Montgomery Ward, probably 20 years ago. I used it for many years until I moved here and have no room for it. It now sits in my garage with stacks of other yard sale stuff that nobody buys.

NO raffle win,but lots of things oinb radio,tickets to see jackson 5,I was to win all recpords put out from one record co.I got like 20 albums then doubles and then none.I won 4,000 in Vegas,6,000 at charlestown slots,loots slots since usually 1,000.
won lawn ornament in a raffle at kids school,I was new year baby mother got lots gifts from the towns merchants.

I won a 100.00 shopping spree at our Ralphs grocery store back in the 80's.I won the weekly lottery at work one time.Several times i won door prizes and such at our quilting guild.That's all i can remember now.

Won a beautiful cut glass candy dish at Christmas time one year. My daughter won a deal at a grocery store where she had a certain amount of time to load her cart with all she could. She ended up with just over six hundred dollars of groceries.

No money yet..... BUT I have won a trip to Mexico, a weekend at a spa, 5 days use of a cottage in BC, MP3 players lots of concert and movie tickets. I like to enter contests! :)

I won $200 in a Nabob coffee mail in contest years ago.
I guess the most and best I ever "won" was an ex boyfriend passed away in an accident and had forgotten to change his life insurance beneficiary - I recieved $68,000.!
Had a lot of fun, helped some family members and friends, went on a great vacation and started and ran a dessert shop for many years with that money.

No my but my DH won an ATV with trailer and another time had 5 out of 6 numbers on the power ball. Didn't win nearly as much as he would have if he had all 6 numbers but still won about $3000. Me, I've never won a thing. Good thing I have DH. My daughter is fairly lucky. She frequently wins the small stuff on drawings and one time won a $200 scholarship. All she had to do was put her name in the hat. That was easy.

I haven't won any cash but I did win a $500 gift certificate to a new store that opened at our local mall. It came in very handy. We wore lots of Eddie Bauer sweaters for the next year or two.
