Unfortunately, lost the receipt and warranty work requires it. However, I did revive it by forcing the read head back to the outer edge of the disc. While it was off, I just moved the head back--it seemed stuck in the center. I wouldn't do this on something that I didn't think was a lost cause anyway, and it just happened to work (for now). I guess the stepper motor was frozen up. We'll see how long it lasts now.

I switched to CLEAR CARE because it is preservative free and have had no reaction to it so far. Very happy about that because most lens solutions do contain preservatives. Unfortunately, the problem reoccured about a week after I first posted my message. I had made an assumption that saline solution is just purified salted water and you can use whichever brand you like. You'd think by now I'd have enough brains to read the ingredients on anything I put in my eyes but I didn't. Lo and Behold the generic (Target) brand of Saline caused another allergic reaction and I was back on the hydrocortisone. In bold letters at the top of the bottle (on the back) it states "No Sorbic Acid and no Thimerosal". Not till you read the contents does it say "preserved with ...". So they're putting preservatives in Saline too! The only saline I found that does not contain preservatives is Unisol 4 by Alcon. Expensive, hard to find, and they only seen to come in 4 oz bottles (maybe because there is no preservative in them). My husband wears contacts too and he's never had a problem with products w/ preservatives. However, after seeing what it did to me he doesn't want them in his eyes anymore either. If you are like me (prone to allergies, excema, sensitive skin, etc) be very careful what you buy to clean your lenses. Hard to believe that such a small amount of liquid left on your lenses could do so much damage but it can. The chemicals will be absorbed into the skin around your eyes.

In order of appearance: 1) Inexpensive DVD players 2) Layer change on RSDL (reverse spiral dual layer) DVDs - longer than 2 hours - that will usually happen around the 100-120 minute mark. 3) Finger prints on the outer area of the disc from handling - remember just like CDs, DVDs read from the center of the disc on out to the edge. 4) Dust on the laser lens - blow it off with an aerosol duster through the tray opening or remove the cover, blow it off and use a Q-tip "very lightly" dipped in alcohol to clean the lens itself. If the discs are scratched, apply "good old-fashioned formula" Turtle Wax, let dry, rub off from the center on out, and then buff to a nice shine.

I apprecite the time y'all are taking to answer me. I will ask him about the additional cleaning to make sure it's fully ok. It looks like it is. I've now seen on another website (sorry, I don't want to be talked into disposable! I was merely curious for personal experience. Looks like I stand alone.), there is no degredation for a lens by the hydrogen peroxide cleaning. It won't work for disposables because they're so thin, it'd cause wear on them to give them the same regimen as daily wear. Daily wear are much thicker. They don't tear and degrade like disposables and can withstand the cleaning regimen. I will tell you, there's nothing going on with my eyes. Cheap materials are cheap materials that make for flimsy contacts. It's just my experience. They're not nearly as good as daily wear. Period. Conversely, if you ever want to give daily wear (permanent) lens a try, I am finding that the gel drops, give it that fresh out of the box, silicone hydrogel feel, without the poorer quality of disposable. But that's just my opinion. :)
