I always mix up sheets, pillowcases as well as everything on the outside of bed. I mix from different lines/manufacturers too.

I mix and match from everything in the linen closet. I don't are about brands, etc. It's soo easy that way.

Mind you I only buy white...heh heh But I mix and match the whites....

I only buy white, 100% cotton, 300-400 thread count. I'm a real snob when it comes to bed linens. I can wash them in hot water hundreds of times and they never fade! Although I'm the one that irons them, it's still my true luxury to have fresh white sheets to climb into at the end of the day. It would not be the same for me to have mixed colored patterns on the bed.

Now the bedspread -- that's a different story!

I love linens - and love colors - both in bed linens and towels.

I like my sheets to coordinate with the colors used in the bedroom. I will sometimes mix it up a bit - say a striped top sheet with coordinating solid fitted sheet and pillowcases. We sleep with two sets of pillows and it's rare I have 4 pillowcases the same on the bed. Sometimes though I will have a matched set. I love vintage pillowcases and use them frequently.

I have two sets of cream sheets right now, but the two creams are not quite the same. Does that count? I have a matched comforter set and a couple of matched coverlet/shams sets and use one or the other. Years ago, I did the eclectic, unmatched look and loved it, but maybe I'm too rushed these days to do it...?

I've always done it. Years ago I would shop the sale bins and get single sheets, tops or bottoms, and pillowcase sets for a song, and mix and match them way before it was popular to do so.

Nowdays it seems they sell mostly packaged "sets" but I still mix them all up on the beds.

Now that I've switched to the Italian sheets that are out of my price range at full price, I mix and match top and bottoms of different brands that are on sale.

I like to keep things simple, so I have all ivory sheets/pillowcases/and towels~makes for easy washing, too. I'm constantly on the look-out for pillow cases with some sort of embellishment. I mix those with plain Egyptian cotton sheets. ;o)

I just use white flannel. Boring maybe, but snuggly and goes with everything.

Doh! I learned something new as it never occurred to me to mix and match my sheets. My DM always used sets and so do I. I actually like the idea so I will add to my "to try" list. Thanks for enlightening me.

Everything matches or coordinates. I like the sheets themselves to match and I prefer bright prints in percale.
They coordinate with the top duvet and pillows and are not seen. The bedroom coordinates with the bathroom ...with the living room...etc.
I do tend to get particular about every little item in the room and admit that I love the Pottery Barn look even if it is for the masses. (But I don't like their furniture much)

No I don't. I grew up with mismatched sets that weren't particularly lovely. I prefer plain cream or white sets. Nothing else is matchy matchy so hmm maybe its time to think outside of that box too!

I used to, all the time, but now my entire linen closet (sheets, towels, coverlets, duvet covers) is a sea of white. One day I just got up and said, simplify!
Having said that, now that many of those white sheets are starting to show their age, and now that the available colors are so much more interesting, I am drawn to mixing solid colors within my schemes. But I am done with patterns, and with fancy edging...I iron cases and edges, too.

If they don't match they at least coordinate, color wise.

I also only buy white linens but that's just because I'm lazy. Since I'm lazy that also means that I inadvertently mix and match. Some have white lace, some are plain white, some have white on white stripes, some are flannel, some are not.

I used to really enjoy colors and patterns, but in the last few years, I've bought only white. It just looks so fresh.

Another one with just plain white bed linens -- and since I just strip the bed; wash them in hot water -- and throw the set back onto the bed (NOT ironed -- much to my mum's chagrin) -- I guess I'm co-ordinated! (but only in bed linens -- LOL!)

Honey, I'm lucky if my socks match.

Oh, they're supposed to match? damn. (the socks, I mean.)

They have to match. Thanks to OCD I wouldn't sleep if they didn't. And mismatched socks!!!! Not only do mine match, they have to go on the same foot they were on before.- thank goodness warm weather and flip flops are around the corner.

My husband and I sleep on a California king bed, my guest bed and sofa beds are queen, my daughter and one son sleep on fulls, two sons sleep on twins. The king sheets are cream, the queen sheets are light blue, the full sheets are white, and I have two colors for the twins: red and brown. I started this system several years ago after getting fed up with having to unfold and refold several sheets to find the right size.

Wow, lots of plain whites here! And then the opposite mix and match crowd!
OK, here's what I do: buy two sets of sheets that can go with each other, then mix and match OR keep all the same as the mood strikes. My daughter has bright pink set and a big loud flower set with the same pink along with blue and yellow on white background. Mix and match is easy. Son has solid royal blue set and rocket ship print set. Mix and match again! My own are a funky lime green/dark blue/white pattern -- stripes on the fold-down cuffs in the blue and white and then lime green with the blue and white dots on the rest of the sheet. Mix and match these with a solid dark blue set. It's fun to play around, and if you already have a set you can bring in a pillowcase when you go shopping and look for something fun to match. Plain white? No thanks!
